    By 1.5 seconds, so this current pace is quite encouraging.

    Also the amount of Laps Ferrari is doing! On lap 139 now and counting. Last year they did 80...most laps on day 1 last year was 105 from Red Bull (Verstappen closing in on that with the Honda engine...)

    Confirmed Mercedes have not done any laps using their DRS.


    Pirelli confirmed rougher track surface this year, possibly making the surface a bit faster but with more tire wear.

    Grosjean and Haas starting to put the spurs to that car early aren't they. Low 1:19 is indeed a quick one.

    Actually they were. Alonso drove last year's McLaren a second faster at testing. 1.17.78. :p

    Mercs and RB are always sandbagging at Barcelona. Even last year Vettel had the fastest car in testing. And yet, who won in the end? ;)

    Also nobody hit 1.18 on day one in 2018. 1.20 was the quickest even on the day one of the second test last year. Forget about the first test last year. :D

    This year's cars are certainly faster. ;)

    Cannot disregard the showing by the Ferrari-powered teams, testing or not. My read:

    - Vettel is making a statement to Leclerc...he hears the chatter
    - McLaren is running at a higher level to save face vs Honda
    - Verstappen is not attacking
    - Mercedes is being Mercedes...not in a rush to show anything
    - Paddock is reportedly harsh on Renault/Ricciardo. I'd say it's too early to tell.
