Thanks Marcel, do you have anymore of the RHD Daytona's please?

    Is 75 Paris?
We used to spend our hoildays in France but that was many years ago. I think 34 was the region where we had a house.

This shot is a testament to perfect design. Even from a least likely angel it looks great. Actually, it looks especially great.

After digging through stacks of old 35mm slides for a couple of weeks I was able to find a photo I took on a bright, July day in 1980. I was working for an aircraft company at Schipol Airport in the Netherlands, just outside Amsterdam, and I had flown my mother over from Texas so that she could see Europe. We were visiting Paris, walking west on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and had stopped at the crosswalk of the Avenue George V (you can check out the intersection on Google Streets. It looks much the same as it did in 1980, the major difference is the TWA office on the right has been replaced by a Louis Vuitton store). While we were waiting for the "walk" light, a Rosso Corsa Daytona Spyder roared up to the intersection and stopped directly in front of us. It was an absolutely gorgeous summer day in Paris, so naturally the top was down. The dude driving was looking too cool (in a 1980's jet-set, playboy kind of way). He had his shades on and a sweater draped over his shoulders. He glanced over at us and saw that I was taking a photo. He smiled and, when the light changed, turned left onto the Champs-Élysées and rowed through the gears to the redline all the way up the avenue towards the Place Charles de Gaulle and the Arc de Triomphe. Perfect! For a twenty-three year old Ferrari fanatic, it was a pivotal life event. I'm sure you understand.

I am happy to share my Ferrari memory and this faded photo with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I have always wondered what became of that man and his Ferrari. If anyone has a clue, drop me a PM.

Great story, thanks for sharing this small piece of memory with a picture.

It reminds me a small story with an American who buy a spider Daytona - I think, yellow - the commercial at this time was Mr Chenay.
The man comes with a wonderful woman and pay cash the car. Some hours later he left the garage with his car and woman received a big flower bouquet.

PS: I think you have the smallest pseudo of the community :) not very easy in case to recover a word pass.

You are welcome, Christian. I enjoy sharing memories of Ferrari. I became enamored with the marque when I was about six years old, but was never able to afford one until after I retired at 59. I finally found a little F430F1 in my price range two years ago and I am quite happy with it. I have also spotted two other Daytonas, both coupes. One was in Jacksonville, North Carolina, at a mobile home dealership. It was gold. The other was in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store in, of all places, Granbury, Texas. It was Rosso Corsa with Scuderia shields. I did not get pictures, but the memories are bright.

In life you have to know to be patient, get things too quickly removes it from flavor, gives a false picture of either.

59 This is just a number!

The important thing is not to make a living but rather how to live it.

I have seen Jean-Pierre Delaunay with a red Daytona spider at Paris at that period.
