Looking to add a lift to my home garage. Not sure if I should go with 1, 2, or 4 post lift. Any recommendations? Would be to store my sports car or daily driver (sedan).

I have about 9.5 feet of clearance before hitting the garage door rails.

    Thanks in advance!

Highly recommend American Cusrom Lifts. They make a single post lift that is wonderful.

Why did you go with Single Post? Purely curious.

I originally had a 4 post lift and found it to be too intrusive and quite frankly not too secure. The single post has a platform and base that is bolted into the concrete. It truly is commercial grade quality. The car is suspended in air with only one post. The ramps are 24” wide and easy to drive on and off. For my purpose which is storage and detailing the cars it’s perfect.

Make sure you do some measuring first. My garage is about 9.5' and I can only do two sports cars like ferrari/lotus, lotus/porsche stacked. I could never get a sports car on top and an suv on bottom and would think its it'd be pretty tight with a sedan.

You mentioned that you have 9.5' to the door rails. Keep in mind you can move them up closer to the ceiling with a special package and also you would want to consider a jack shaft opener to clear the center area. This will give you additional height and open your possibilities. I have done this in several garages I have had over the past years with four post lifts. PM me if you need more specifics.

Do you plan on dropping engines out of any of your vehicles?

Ok, I get the lifts you can drive on and then possibly store another vehicle under the lifted one. You can work on the vehicle that is on the lift...limited work.
If you want to work on the car that requires taking the wheel(s) off then a lift with the four arms that go on the frame is desired. I am mainly reading lifts you can drive on. The lifts with the arms you can get as one post and four posts. With the four posts you can store another vehicle under the lifted car.
Reason I ask, I have a 328 and Mondial. To replace the battery on the Mondial I need to take the from passenger wheel of. To do belt changes I need to take the rear passenger wheel off with both cars.
Somehow I would rather get a lift I can perform the maintenance on the car.
    Any thoughts?

Most four post lifts have a jack tray which can slide anywhere on the lift. You can place a bottle jack under any of the corners while on the lift

I took a quick look at their website, but could not find a quote for the one post lift. Can I ask how much you paid for yours?

I know there are some variations for options, etc. But it would be nice to have a rough ball-park figure.

    Thanks!

I have the Bendpak in a shallow pit in my garage. It works great, not outrageous cost.

What you are seeing is a AL cover which I can drive/walk over and use as a table/work surface. The lift is a Bendpac with four articulating arms which can be positioned under the chassis lift points.

Here is a photo of the lift without the cover. The yellow arms with the round black pads can be positioned to the lift points on the car.

How high can this lift the car? How deep does the pit need to be, and how thick does the slab need to be at the bottom of the pit to support the lift. I like this alot- very clean.

I have a mobile version of this... where you don't have to cut into the concrete at all. and you can move it and put it away or you can just move it over. They are only like 1700 bucks. Lifts the car about 3 feet or so. Pretty excellent
