Hello fellow Ferrari chatters , the weirdest thing has happened to my 360. Had new battery installed September 2018 all was well , used car till end of September then put car away for winter. Had car on tender up until yesterday again all was well, out of no where today i go out in car come back to it later on then all of a sudden my miles odometer is completely wrong it should of read 80894 to be exact but now as you can see from the photo.... I am aware of electrical problems these cars can suffer from, i checked battery and is showing 11.5v without engine running correct me if i am wrong that means the battery is ok? How can i get my correct odometer miles back.... Tried battery switch off etc nothing works! Please help Image Unavailable, Please Login
If nothing else you may now have the bragging rights to the "Highest Mileage" Ferrari. Just 2,768 more miles and your get the coveted 350K badge from Maranello for your grill.
Which battery tender are you using? And if it's hooked up to the battery tender all along 11.5V is too low. It should read around 13.7V fully charged. Dan Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
only directly after charging you may have those voltage after 1 day you may have between 11.9 and 12.9 V, depends on how old the battery is.
WOW, it does not even make sense if it switched to KM instead of miles. I hope you get the problem corrected, but it is nice to see someone put 80K miles on their car.
The battery charger i am using is the ferrari one in the picture and the battery was new september 2018 making it 6 months old. I just cant believe out of nowhere this has happened i hope someone can maybe shed some light into how i can get it sorted Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmmm. I'd try a completely new battery and eliminate any residual charge in the system if it were me. Otherwise you might need a dealer with a Factory SD2...
Are you sure that is not the trip meter? Seems awful odd to have that type of discrepancy in a specialized part like the odometer. If this turns out to be truly the issue...imagine the uproar in the community over mileage misstatements, diminished value, etc. I think were it me, I would remove the negative cable, let the car sit for 15 minutes, reinstall and start up. It should clear the ECU on the car. If it doesn't, pull the main ECU fuse and repeat.
Thanks for the advise, i have tried everything people suggested, still got the same mileage, the car is acting like this is now my correct mileage. So so random anyone else have any ideas
Once the mileage is stored in the dash (even if due to a glitch) it cannot be altered without specialist equipment to JTAG the Infineon chip on the dashboard flash and patch modify the files manually. No amount of battery resetting will help. The mileage is usually also stored in the TCU (if f1) along with number of gearchanges, etc, hours operated, etc. and also in the eeprom on the ignition ecu's. Therefore this isn't a simple to correct properly as you'd expect. Ferrari had a high profile case a few years back due to the fact the SDx computer could fix this after some people/dealers where found abusing the tool to eh hum 'correct' mileage so the feature was removed. So now even main dealers cannot help. Its likely that either a flash sector (equivalent of usb storage pen) has died inside the dash and caused this or an electrical gremlin has done it. Either way you need a specialist to repair it...
Hi, I had the same problem. It can be modified, contact 'eric355' on this forum. A great guy and real enthusiast. Matt
Ha ha. I need to put my glasses on next time I look at a post. Yes, I agree. That would be a long trip.
I have got to give a big shout out and massive thanks to the man ERIC355 , sent him my cluster and now all is well, what a friendly experience . Big thanks to eric355
Eric- After all this time working with you, and I did not realize you did instrument panels like FAI.
Hi eric355. I have just purchased a 360 and its not started off well. The Battery was replaced at a specialist and now the backlight on the instrument cluster seems to have gone. Is there anything that can be done to rectify this?
Hi. Usual failures for the backlight are the electroluminescent panel itself, or the DC/AC converter which supplies it, or ... both !! It can be repaired. PM me for details.
Weird problem, never heard of it. Looking at the fix suggested by some, from a different perspective could a lot of the lower mileage Ferraris for sale have their odometer rolled back? After all it would have a huge positive impact on the price? I do recall a thread here or on another site where an ex-employee from a dealership was claiming they had a tool to reset miles. The car in question was a La Ferrari.
