I’m curious, does ANYONE have a non modified 355? I mean, zero mods. None. No aftermarket headers/exhausts. No wheels, passenger foot plates, carbon finger, mod speakers, etc. It seems like the 355 is one, if not the most modified and molested Ferrari models ever. And, do you feel mods add or detract value from a car at resale. To be clear, I’m not passing judgement on mods (well, maybe some I am). I’m just curious what people’s thoughts are on the topic.

I think if a car has aftermarket headers, especially Tubi, that would add value due to stock headers being the biggest weak point on the car. Just my opinion though.

    Yes, you do :)

My 98 has aftermarket shields, valve stem caps and an Alpine stereo which I will remove soon as I never use it. Oh, it also has no muffler (custom pipe arrangement) and a Challenge Grill. Wait....I have a dead pedal too. Yikes ;) All easily reversible.

The 95 I'm restoring will be all stock less the headers, cats and muffler.

My 99 is completely stock. When I replaced the tires, I even found a set of the OEM NOS.

Headers are factory. Have a set of rebuilt factory headers on the shelf when those die. Have the stock sony stereo.....rarely use it anyway. Still have functioning exhaust to the tip.

Modifying is not molesting. If you think about it, the series fiorano, schumacher's 355, the 355CH, are all basically modded from the factory.
I think the "museum" cars, like those with like 5000 miles would probably best be left stock, but if your going to enjoy it, do as you please and stop worrying what others think.

What would be the point of leaving the stock muffler on the car anyway?

Everyone enjoys these cars a different way. No wrong answer. Some want 100% stock, others mild mods, others totally modified.

    To each his own :)

Dave lack of parts I think ( muffler) technically may just mean you forgot to put the muffler back on.
You would have to remove the straight pipes though ha ha

I would consider mine to be tastefully molested.
And will easily be put back stock by the next owner when I am gone.

yep, that's where i am - every single stock part that has been removed is bubble wrapped and stored away.

My car goes back to stock with exception of Tubi headers every concours. I have every OEM part kept. Otherwise it has a Capristo bypass, Exhaust and a Challenge grill.

I cannot deal with the OEM 2.7 exhaust and simply do not enjoy the car when it is fitted.

I think in the perfect world I would have more than one to keep. One concours car, one modded as I wish, and one real track focused one, with major change to improve its performance but not its looks - a street legal challenge car would do.

So your unmodded cars still haven't had the fuel block recall done and you still have sticky panels? :p

Recall adherence and mechanical/cosmetic maintenance are not modifications.

Exactly. People act like these came of the line at their max potential, even ferrari was like, "oops, going to have ro fix that" lol.

I will have to also disagree with to OP on his perception of the 355 being to only or at least main ferrari to be modified. At Every cars and coffee I have been, it would seem the 360, especially the spider's and the 458 are usually more "molested" in my observation

All stock except fabspeed headers/hyperflow cats/capristo exhaust. Original headers and exhaust sitting in bubble wrap.

Do HE tensioner bearings count? I think cats and headers both fall into the failed original design category similar to tensioner bearings. Tough to daily drive unless you’ve done them.

IMO, if a factory part is known faulty, and not ackowledged in a TSB or recall, then it's okay to remove/replace that with something that makes the car better/reliable.

If a 355 with a Capristo exhaust is the best sounding car on the planet (which it just might be...), why would you get soooooo close and not go all the way? Isn't that like marrying a supermodel and never getting a little freaky?

Mine is modded with all Ferrari parts minus Capristo muffler and Speedline Challenge wheels (not sure if this would be considered a Ferrari part or not). Even my test pipe is a modded Ferrari cat :).

Anyone still running the stock muffler is missing out BIG TIME. Life is too short for that. I think it is safe to say cars are worth more with a $4k Capristo installed vs a stock muffler unless the car was a low mile museum piece.

Have you seen what people do to 458s nowadays? I have yet to see an F355 with a chrome wrap and plastic 'riveted' overfenders.

I am about as close as one can get:: the only non Ferrari parts on my car is the brake pads.
The factory pads go from cold to "too hot" if you have to used them as in race track conditions.
I am currently running Ferodo DS2500 pads.

I also de-stickied the interior parts.
