Front is not bad, I'm less convinced by rear and interior. Weight reduction and Pista's engine are nice improvements.
I have your same feelings. I really like how aggressive the front looks (not on par with the Pista, but not bad by any mean). However, the rear seems more "baroque" to my eyes, like it doesn't belong to the same car. A more flat and squared look could have helped, but maybe the not so positive feedback about the 812SF's rear made them go towards another direction for this car. Just my initial impression.
Now F8 is here do people think this thread is redundant ? Model progression certainly looks different to what most people would have imagined when thread was started ! I think we now need 2 new threads,One for mid engined V8 (Big Brother) and one for mid engined V6 (Little Brother). Thoughts ?
Not bad, but the good ole 458 design is asking for a well deserved retirement: the plastic surgeon work is quite obvious.
Hi, I'm new to the forum. Been reading back a few pages but can you tell me what this BB car is about please?
I like it better than the 458, Speciale, 488, and Pista. So glad they went back to the traditional four taillights.
I will say that I’m surprised at how different some parts of the design are compared to how much the same other parts are... Not sure why the kept the black splitter in the side air intake. Not sure why the side air intake is so similar to the 488. Not sure why the C pillar with that belt line wrapped over it and not a smooth transition. Not sure why the subtle double bubble roof is exactly the same. Hmmmmmm it does look good however
Looks nice except for the Corolla-like step in the bumper below the headlight and the funky rear window. Same questions as you mostly answered by the fact they kept the major structural element of the roof but also the rear fender. Surprisingly they changed the door skins but kept the scoop shape (?). (Correction. On review of the non-official pics, looks like door skins remained unchanged). Happy to see though that they didn't do the Portofino (and J50) style "running board" behind the grunt wheels instead going for a more aerodynamically sensible solution of opening up the area behind and below the front wheel opening.
I guess that´s because they didn´t want to expend too much in an "interim" car: most of those changes you ask for would require alterations of the chassis. They´ve only changed the plastic parts, fenders and hood, easily interchangeable parts with the 488.
The strategy is interesting. First time in decades I can recall Ferrari doing a pure facelift. 430 was same platform as 360 but barely recognisable, similar point on 458/488. This car is clearly a 488 with a Pista engine and some electronics, new front & rear bumper, bonnet & louvres. Clearly will have a very short shelf-life. Platform is already very old. It's not a car, it's a tribute . It's named like a collectors car, which is not . Ferrari, you should be honest and even the "facelift" label would sound much better and more bearable for a daily driver IMO. From side angles I can still see the 458 Italia and beautiful lines drawn by pininfarina studio. That was a beautiful car and a beautiful name. Now, this F8 Tributo is not.
Unimpressed, what a disappointment. The rims resemble what was standard on the 458, which were terrible. Inspired by the J50, one of the ugliest cars ever made by Ferrari. Pista engine is nice to have, but never been done before by Ferrari. Ferrari has taken a page from the Lamborghini playbook, a step in the wrong direction.
100% thanks for pointing that out. 550 & 575 too. I guess I was referring to the “modern era” Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
