I agree but I think it has much more to do with cost. This make over will allow the use of 80% of current parts and greatly reduce the tooling cost for new ones. I this is driven by the bean counters looking to maximize the profits
Yes! Ferrari has been selling the same carbon race seats since 2008 (430 Scuderia). Those molds are puttin’ in work.
Ahh heck, even toyota aint that bad Ferrari is reminding me of old coke dealers, add more Bulgarian foot powder to increase the profits
The 458 was perfection when it was released and a giant leap forward from the jelly bean cars of the 360/430. IMO, THE 488 design is another level of perfection (better than the speciale). This new iteration is cool and for those that complain of missing pinin farina influence, most of all involved In Ferrari car design now work for Ferrari anyway. Ferrari move the goal post that all others follow. Love it.
It is only once every 2 or 3 generations that a design team has the vision and delicate touch as Pinin and Farina once did.
Maybe Ferrari is doing like Porsche does with the 911. A slow evolution except with a name change with the update.
The 308 design was around with only slight changes for around 13 years. Incidentally, a Bertone design and one of the most Iconic car designs of all time. Pinin Farina, (and I was/am a huge fan ) has penned some really ugly cars over the years. I don’t think the 599 was among the best design in their line up and post Pinin, I think the design team at Ferrari (so far) have hit the mark on every single car since Pinins demise. As I said earlier, the 458 was perfection, and in this now crowded competitive segment, it is very tough to pull off a distinguished model that captivates the mind and stirs the soul. IMO, Ferrari once again delivered and has raised the bar with the refinements seen in the F8. As they did with the georgeous 488. The interior of the F8 got the much needed update although slight, the climate vents look awesome and were a needed departure from the Lexus looking ones with which the 458/488 were equipped. Think about it.. over 700HP on pump gas, in a road car with the comfort and interior design of a rolls Royce... UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE. Ferrari Did it again... Bravo Ferrari!!!!
Probably the best thing about the release of the F8 is the reality that it will make it easier for some of us to park the amazing 458 platform weather you love the 458 or 488 next to our beloved 355s.
Beg your pardon. 308 pinin design built by Scag. But yes, a 10 year production design and refined as the 328 for a further 4 additional years making it a 14year platform. Must admit, it is a worthy platform to extend but F8 likely the last version before another overhaul.
The 488 does look like a Super Car in the right colors and carbon accents. I do think they messed up putting a random ugly hole in the rear. Didn’t Pininfarina design the 458 from scratch? I think that deserves more credit than building off the 458 platform (488). Let’s see Ferrari do a new V8 from scratch before we draw a conclusion.
I happened to have had one as my get away car on my wedding day. My point was that it is as comfortable and high quality. But yeah, no walnut service trays nor fiber optic ceilings. Be Well.
For those of you not completely sold on Ferrari's in-house design for their mid-engine model; take a look at Pininfarina's latest effort, the Battista. What might have been perhaps...
