I was offered a 355 GTS softtop. Does it fit my 348 TS?

    Yes yes. :). I wish.

I actually had one prior to me getting my 348 brand new at the dealer (US version) but it came in broken and the dealer sent it back where it was reportedly scrapped. Looking back, I should have taken it anyway and tried to repair it.

I believe they do. One just sold on flea bay for £500 and was advertised to fit both.

I might know where there is one. Last I spoke to him he wanted £1k; which I thought was just too much.

If your interested I can try and find the guy again.

I believe most of the soft tops were made for 348s. I purchased Daniel's (Ricambi) personal soft top around 11 years ago for $2 or $2.5k. It was the kind with the latches, not the slide in place ones... and it does not fit the 355. Different latches and slightly different location of the latches (roof fits in place if you take the latches off). I spoke to Bradan a while back (thinking about having them do a service on my 355) and they said they should be able to alter the latch locations to fit my 355. If you can get one for less than $2k, I would snatch it up asap! I hope this helps.

I’d love to get together sometime and bring my 348 to check it out. Some nice day this spring or something.

There are two versions of the folding top for the 348 TS/GTS (they were all made for the 348 - Not the 355):

    1) The official Ferrari version - No latches, and the top sits proud of the front roof rail, so Ferrari put a speed limit warning on them due to concerns about them being blown off the car at high speeds.

    2) Ferrari North America version - Exactly the same latches and pins as the standard targa top, and the top fits flush with the roof rail, exactly the same as the standard top. These do not have a suggested speed restriction on them.

If the top you're talking about is the Ferrari North America version, then £1K is a bargain - The latches alone sell for £500~£600 each (if you can find them!)

I still own my FNA folding soft top, even though I no longer own my 348 (I hung on to the top because there is a possibility I might buy another 348 TS/GTS ) and there's no way I'd sell it for only £1K! - They're hen's teeth rare (I bought mine from the States and imported it into the UK), and for taller owners (5' 10"+), who need the drivers seat all the way back to fit in the car, they're an absolute Godsend, because they can sit on the parcel shelf behind the seats, out of the way.

When I had my 348, I showed the folding soft top to two independent Ferrari specialists, both of whom had heard of the tops, but had never actually seem one, and they both thought it was superb, and thought it looked a lot better than the standard, black targa top.

If you can get an FNA folding soft top for £1K - Grab it with both hands ASAP!

Since mine has that speed limit sign i d guess it’s original even i really can’t tell anymore... but even 1k£ seems too little for me regarding the value its providing tall guys... ;)

    Hmmm.......Original?

TBH, I'm not sure which came first, the official Ferrari version, or the Ferrari North America version, but they were both out around the same time, when the 348 was still fairly new, so it could be said that they are both "original" (one's just a bit more official than the other one! ;))

(For many years, the folding roof panel was thought to be a mythical part that didn't really exist, as there didn't seem to be any information about them, and neither Ferrari or Ferrari North America seemed to make it public knowledge at any time that they had made a folding top for the 348 - Which was a bit odd!)

The advised speed limit of the official Ferrari version is 100mph/160Km/h, which, considering the sort of times you'd actually use the roof (caught out in a rain storm, when the weather turns really cold, or when parking the car up somewhere), is plenty fast enough.

Personally, I prefer the FNA version as it looks (to me), a bit tidier on the car, sitting flush with the front roof rail, but both do the same job really well.

Totally agree with you on the £1K price tag - Far too low considering what a Godsend the roof panel is for taller drivers, and how rare they are (It's the 348 version of the 3*8 GTS Saratoga top!)

(I actually bought mine before I got the car, because I knew how hard they are to come by. I'd gone to look at the 348 I eventually bought, and mentioned that, being 6'2", I couldn't drive the car with the hard top behind the seats, to which the owner of the dealership said that he had heard of a folding top for them, that could sit on the parcel shelf, but in 40 years plus of buying and selling Ferrari's, had never seen one. When I got home, I Google'd Ferrari 348 folding roof panel, and the first thing listed was for an ebay ad in the USA [I'm in the UK]. I thought it must be an old advert, but clicked on it anyway, and found it was put on ebay that day. The buyer had stated they had no problem shipping to the UK, so I clicked on the "Buy it now" button, and then emailed the seller to say that I was a genuine buyer. He said I was quick off the mark as the advert had only been listed 35 minutes before I bought the roof! - I took it as a sign that it was meant to be. A week or so later, I collected the roof from the parcel office, and two weeks after that, I collected my car [had to drive 180 miles home with the hard top on, on one of the sunniest days of the year - People must have thought I was a right idiot! :D] )

When you mentioned there was one on UK eBay, I searched for it and found it. and the winner had never made contact for pickup. So I jumped on it. A buddy of mine lived 30 min away outside of London and they met up and I paid my friend back later.

I got lucky. So I finally put my hands on it today. Another friend was in London and brought it back on his flight to Seattle this morning. Basically brand new, still in the box.

I’m pretty happy with it for £500.

I'm after one too. Non original will do me, as I don't want the speed restriction.

Funny I was reading a similar thread about 5 years ago concerning the infamous 348 collapsible soft top. One gentleman commented that he worked at a Ferrari Dealer as a parts man and indicated that there was 3 new tops on the FNA inventory ! The very next day I phoned Ferrari Vancouver and placed my order. I recieved my NOS, in the box top about 10 days later. The time to buy is when you find one............
