Future Aston Martin mid engined car looks nice but I have some doubts about theirs handling and reliability .. Hope I'm wrong because competition is good for customers !
I’m in Geneva and my dealer told me the BB will have 1000hp, V8 with KERS and will be limited (I don’t think this part is accurate as we have already discused here ad aeternum). Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was told categorically 2 days ago that the car is a regular production model. Estimated base price 500k EUR, 1000hp That sounds like a lot of car for the money... it should do very well Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
For a non limited car it would kill any value in Pista and F8 and even a bit of the LaF. It will be limited for sure.
Yes George it is. Let’s see if it has a carbon fiber chassis... (George do you usually come to the meeting in Aarberg?)
People Ferrari needs to wake up. This car is beautiful! F1 seating position and every single painted part is Carbon Fiber. Just beautiful! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes beautiful car , Just a clay model that will be produced in 3 or 4 years from now . As I said before Ferrari could show clay models for the next 15 cars and you will be amazed . Not a big deal for me and a dangerous strategy to unveil definitive design already.
So BB will have V8TT hybrid and 1000 hp : Three questions marks : 1/ definitive price 2/ new platform with carbon passenger cell 3/ electrified front axle .
I agree with you; this strategy reminds me of the "paper launches" of Dani Bahar at Lotus. I was referring to the sublime handling of current Astons though.
Thanks for this link. Testing in Sweden? The road is cold and icy. Maybe this is the BB. With a hybrid system, there may be multiple electric motors driving at least the front wheels. That could enable the BB to be driven safely in icy conditions. If the car only had rear wheel drive, what would be the point of testing in these conditions? ESP if the car had 1000hp and RWD only.
These are not performance tests, rather reliability ones. They have to make sure that the car works in these conditions. Even FWD city cars go though them. ESP calibration is also a reason.
Very high and low temperatures are usua I know it's just journalism, but French sport auto journalist are well known for being honest and for times they have always supported Aston Martin as a brand even when their range was obsolete ( end of 90 ) . This March , they made a comparo between a 812 superfast and the new superlegerra on different kind of tight and twisty French roads . Results are surprising ( for me at least ) Aston suspension settings are all inefficient at best , The car felt never planted on the road , they weren't able to find the right compromise between sport and comfort. Night and day with the 812 superfast . Aston gearbox is lazy and disconnected .etc ,, That's why I believe the future Aston Martin mid engine plan is too ambitious for their capacity.
Just spent quite a bit of the day in a friends 918. I have to say that the EV drive was superb and when in traffic not hearing a loud ICE engine is rather nice. I hope BB will have an EV only mode of considerable km's
Lambo are using super capacitors in the upcoming Aventador. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/geneva-auto-show/a26764640/the-next-aventador-will-have-a-naturally-aspirated-v-12-and-supercapacitors/?src=socialflowFBCAD&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=socialflowFBCD&fbclid=IwAR3M6mpVNCNr-qlwhfFYq-DQo69E-KQU6Ki537KKuDlJFRWxzEjgIrMhFZY
I think given the general public's obsession with 0-100 times, it is almost guaranteed there will be electrified front axle so 95% of ferrari buyers can brag about how quick their 0-100 times are and faster than Mcl/ Lambo or whatever else while it looks pretty in the garage....LOLOL.. rear wheel drive only is not going to achieve this kind of brag factor...
Funny you say that. AM CEO actually mentions Bahar here: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/geneva-auto-show/a26751498/andy-palmer-aston-martin-ceo-interview-geneva-2019/
Mid-engine never done before by Aston? what about the Bulldog? arguably it was a concept car, but it was fully fonctional... that was long before the Valkyrie. A CEO not knowing the history of the brand he leads, what a pity.
The Pinin was not functional though - for 4-door Ferrari you should better consider the Brunei 456 Talking back of BB (big brother), the BB (berlinetta bower - which was not a boxer btw) was also introduced with a new mid-engine layout for Ferrari (if considering the Dino were not really Ferrari), so a move from front engine to mid-rear is natural for a sports car manufacturer...
Not sure I understand what you mean...I have a 812, paid about 320k EUR! Different price point, different car... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
