Phemes. Yes that is my thought exactly! Thanks again. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Phemes. Three more measurements please. Reverse slot width and the finger between reverse and 2nd Need the neutral position and width. Maybe the top of reverse can work Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Unless I am misunderstanding your question you should already have all those dimensions. All finger widths are the same @ 5.7mm. Slots are all equal also @ 10mm. Neutral position width is total width of all slots @ 59.6mm and centered front to back.
Ok. I was looking at few photos and the finger between r and 2 looked a little larger than the rest. So if I add up all slots and fingers it totals 57.1. Am I missing something Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Gotcha, all to do with draft angle. OK, I would make the finger between reverse and second 6.7 mm and the reverse slot 11.5mm, that will eat the error.
On the top face yes, they are all slightly different due to gear lever angle. They may all be the same on the lower face.

I don’t think you understand. They are all the same width top and bottom. BUT the top hole and bottom hole are offset because of the draft angle. You are modeling it as a slot perpendicular to the plane and that is the source of your error. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yeah, the slots are at angles, think of it like this if you were to look at it from the bottom side (only had MSPaint handy): Image Unavailable, Please Login
Plus if you were to see it from the side, it would be curved like this: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, I do understand. I am just getting the basic shape down first. I’ll work on draft angle and top curve next. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Is the bottom truly flat? If the bottom is truly flat as shown and you project a straight slot from the bottom to the top with a draft angle, it will create a curved slot on top. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Image Unavailable, Please Login It does look like it has a curve on the bottom that follows the top Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Are you really nitpicking the word hole vs slot? Notice that holes do not have to be round. Or are you saying that I more correctly should have said 'the outline caused by the intersection of the hole and the top surface will be offset from the intersection of the hole and the bottom surface'. Either way it looks like you are intentionally being obtuse. Let's face it, the shape of the cutout on the top surface is different than the one on the bottom surface. That makes your 'roughing it out' wrong and difficult to fix.
That would be great if someone has a 3D scanner and an original gate..... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Boy you guys are getting feisty. It is very close now and almost ready to machine. Looking good! How will you approach the cavallino rampante ?
So I’ll have the shift pattern etched on since the option with the carbon knob came with the Cavallino on it. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Send me the file and I'll 3d print it on a half-million dollar machine. It's will be right to a few thousands. I'll do it for free for fun. Also if someone had a real gate I could model it flawlessly, scanning doesn't work the way you think it does and wouldn't help any, traditional measuring is the only way to get it perfect to less than .001. Factory is cast then finish machined like most Ferrari parts, I want to machine one out of ptfe impregnated brass, those would be some nice shifts.
