Does anyone know where I could buy a euro steering wheel for my 355?

Is anyone selling one on F chat?

Post your wanted ad it in the parts section.

    People will find you there.

Although I am guessing this will be quite rare, and hard to find anywhere.

It's not that the euro cars had this wheel it's the very early euro cars did, and after short period of time they all got the airbags. So it's rare to begin with.

My euro car built late 97 has the airbag wheel. Wish it had no airbag.

I have only seen one for sale publicly in the last 3 years. It was on ebay and "someone" contacted the seller direct and offered to buy it now to stop the auction. I think it was listed for about $2200

Wow. Thanks for the info. I’d also consider a 512TR wheel as well. I think those are more widely available.

456 had a similar style non airbag wheel. Not quite as nice IMO but last time I checked still available to order and not that expensive.

456 wheel is similar design but doesn't have perforated grips on the sides and the center is just non covered aluminum (and thicker spokes) vs leather covered steel. (and some other small differences). I think the 456 wheel was slightly larger overall outer diameter as well.

Just put a 348 wheel on there.....one of the best factory steering wheels put in any car in my opinion. Aka a Momo Ghibli 3. :)

At least until you get your hands on the super rare early euro 355 wheel.

I know of one for sale out of Japan if anyone is keen. No affiliation, it’s not cheap though.

The four spokes is generally the aesthetic problem.

I’m a fan of the momo in alcantara.

If you need an airbag, then the 360 wheel is also very nice. I like it a lot in my...... 360.

Double check the 512 TR and M steering wheels. I’m not sure they fit after seeing the rear mount...

IMO the downside to all of the factory wheels would be they sit too far away from the driver.

Mine came with the factory 3 spoke wheel and I wish there was a spacer available. It looks and feels great, just needs to sit out maybe 2-3 inches further towards the driver.

I ended up taking it off and displaying it on a shelf at home instead.

Now running a period correct Nov '93 build date Momo D35 with Luisi collapsible hub and Works Bell quick release that spaces it out perfectly.

Distance is now absolutely perfect and added bonus I can remove the steering wheel and lock the column if it's ever parked somewhere questionable.

after searching, ad nauseum, like many others, I gave up on finding an OEM 355 euro steering wheel. I found a recovered BMW E 30 sport wheel (not M tech) that was mostly found on 1985-86 325es models. I think it is very close to the OEM euro wheel and looks awesome. Thia onw ia slightly custom and features smooth and perforated leather along with added "thumb grips" for a more modern look. Came with red and blue stitching to match the BMW M motif and not sure if I will keep....only visible on close up....will be very easy to dye black.....

I don't think it will be that difficult to transplant; my plan is to carve out the existing center hub, and drilling 4 holes to accommodate the 355 clock spring complete with center spline.

    I will update when complete.

one thing I could use help on is replacing the center BMW roundel emblem. it is a piece of plastic 45mm in diameter and about 3mm thick. held in place by an overlap on the vinyl horn pad. I was excited that the blue and white portion was easily removed from the backside and thought I could just find a decal and apply from the rear, but you can see that the BMW and other details are etched in the plastic.

It would be ideal if I could find something like this in plastic, but I am open to any thoughts....???

Mad828 said there's one selling out of Japan. It's probably the same one I know of. Expect to pay $1500-2000 USD when it's all said and done. If any of you guys are serious about one , hit up me or Elliot and we'll give you the source. Unless you think you can get one for under $1000, you'll be searching till the end of time.

Sign up with Buyee to order stuff through Yahoo Auctions Japan. Easy for English/U.S users. I have used them a few times with no issues. Good for small goods, not large goods. Most sellers won't ship large goods.

^^^great info Ken. that wheel looks good, and maybe someone else will scoop it up; not that bad a price, but my project with be fractional and get me where I want to be.

just need to find a simple piece of clear plastic 45 x 3 with a slight dome on top. if only the BMW piece was not etched.....maybe someone out there will have some ideas? it would be sweet if there is something in the Ferrari family that could be used.....???? here is a close up:
