Has anyone heard anything about the new 2018 Vantage in manual?

Supposed to be released in spring 2019. Currently undergoing testing and certification. So they say.

There are test mules with the AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. No official release date. As we know, it will only be a Porsche and now Aston with manual gearboxes.

Supposedly they're going to do a limited run of manuals. Likely to be an upgraded engine like an S model, might be an AMR Edition.

My local dealer is struggling to move inventory. Constantly emailing me with discounts and lease deals. Its a nice car and the deals are better than comparable Porsche but no one seems to be buying. Don't know why?

    1. Price. Massive price jump between the prior version and this one. It's gone from being a $120k car to a $170-180+ car. And remember the original Vantage was supposed to be under $100k but never really got there. They were $120-140k. Even the "$99,000" base GT at the end had options that pushed them right back up closer to $120k. Maybe I'm too price sensitive compared to the typical AM buyer but that is a big psychological jump from 'near $100k' to 'near $200k.'

    2. Price versus performance. It sounds silly in a way given how fast it is at 3.5s, but it suffers from the issue of the previous Vantage: that for the $175k price point, the NSX, R8 V10 Performance and others are faster. My Alfa is only .01 slower to 60 and was 1/3 the price.

All these said, do I still want one? Yes, I want a manual one. Glacier blue, silver wheels, yellow calipers. Cream leather and navy piping/stitching inside.

I picked one up last week after having driven one that was provided as a loaner while in for service. I loved how the car performed and was put together. The current lease deal is amazingly cheap as Aston is subsidizing a dramatic cap reduction.

    Also BMW.
Lower down the price scale we still have the civic Type R, mustangs and camaros..

This who like to drive, like a car that still requires and allows you to drive, and clearly there is a market for that..

New Euro speed limter and auto braking regulations may kill the manual though.

I think what’s holding them back is that the previous gen looks better. I have no interest in an automatic but if they eventually offer a manual, I’m still thinking I’d keep my 2010 over the new one.

The ‘05-‘16 car is truly timeless. Not really a line out of place.

Can’t say that about the new one yet.

Db11 is growing on me but again seems a bit too busy inside and out.

Yes I got their email too. 7 speed dogleg could be weird and cause wrong gear disaster, no?

Reverse has gearlock on it IIRC, if that's what you mean. From videos I thought first is lower left as the dogleg then 2nd is top left corner, straight down to 3rd.
