Not sure if there are any users here saw the news about this in Vegas lately. But take a look at this news report about a Ferrari that was set on fire in an expensive area of homes. where did all of the rear quarter panels go? they didn’t they use carbon fiber panels on that car. probably a kit/replica car like some of the commenters on the post is saying.

"1988" Ferrari with 348 wheels and 355 door panels? That's a rare beast...

Very difficult to tell with the video and damage but something looks "off" when viewing what's left of the engine.

My guess is it’s a kit car.

Looks like it could be like this one with 348 wheels.

    http://www.2040-cars.com/ferrari/355/1988-fiero-gtp-ferrari-355-spyder-774801/

I see a lot of similarities.

Edit: but mirrors are correct in video where kit above has wrong mirrors.
But motor looks wrong and so does engine “cover.” Maybe a better kit than earlier versions. Definitely a lot of modifications to whatever it is

Here is a discussion about the kit that is very much like the car in fire.

Intake runners look like fiero in stature and placement.

I don't recall that aluminum bracketing at the back of the car on a 348 at least.

Those guys are also talking WAY too much trying to sell the story almost.

    Whole thing is odd.

I doubt this guy would own a kit car and call it a classic Ferrari. They probably mistook the year for a 1998. Not sure why somebody would put 348 wheels on a 355, but that's personal preference. Things like the mirrors, hood doors, etc appear to look like the real deal. If it is a kit car, someone did a really good job.

The biggest problem is the complete melting of quarters and the cover at back of car where trunk is on Fierro. No 348 or 355 has that. And yes that guy looks like a tool that would own a kit Ferrari, and I mean no offense.

They added good mirrors and the seats to really “sell the kit” as referenced in my second link. The builders of those kits got really detailed.

It will be on CoPart or IAA soon enough and then we will know.

Someone show me a Ferrari part number for the aluminum bracketing across the back where the rear tail lights go?

Thanks Wade! I was working the clues this morning, but that is dead on. Great work.

Makes the whole video and crap seem even more odd. A, I would not want that story out anyway. B, sure as hell not with a replica car. C, does the owner even know, LOL.

I enjoyed a lot of time with Fieros, still a big fan as well. But I dislike it when they're used for kit cars. "Keep it real!" I say.

Fiero it is! o_O I just always thought that the oldest person to own a Ferrari kit car was like 25. I never liked anything that misrepresented itself as something it wasn't. Leave that in hollywood.

    Kit cars... can you imagine?

While I appreciate the level of work and craftsmanship, I think a real F355 would be on par, price-wise. Or close anyway.

Saw that too. I would have opted for Superlite SLC build at that point.

Read some of that. March 2019 post ruins car with all that work - exposed non flip up headlamps. He could have bought a real car for labor, parts and materials!?!?

Anyone who would be fooled by that car for more than half a second has never been around a real one. You can see the Fiero v-6 in the video even. She mentioned at the end that they had already made a social media video on it. I just wonder how staged this is. These guys are obviously shady as hell trying to claim it’s a Ferrari.

I was fooled, and I do own one. I couldn't make out the V-6 intake plenum with everything all charred. I guess what I really missed is what do these guys stand to gain by staging this? Social media buzz? I guess I really have been living in the woods too long :p

    Yup.

If anyone has ever had their rear bumper off, they would know immediately that that car in question was not real.
The framework in the back is all wrong...I mean all wrong.
