Martin, I don’t think for our cars the footwell is the right place. Air intake is thru the front air fans?
Robert, that's what I wondered too. But looking at the evaporator fans, it seems, that they take the air from the car's interior. Not? Image Unavailable, Please Login Best Regards Martin
I don’t see air intakes in the car only from the heater box tubes but I don’t have diagrams right now. Your picture seems sure seem so however.
The air intake for the air conditioner is definitely from within the car. There is no fresh air. Only the heating air comes from outside.
Before beginning to clean and disinfect my heater and A/C-system, I just thought I could look, how it looks in front of the heater cores and just found this. LOL! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just had the carb box cover sandblasted, primer etched, and now I'll spray and wrinkle finish it Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I thought that's what filters are made for. The heater cores are perfectly clean. Anyway I still smoke I now will try something different instead of foam. I have a lot of oddments of G4 paint booth filters in fitting thickness. Much better permeable and filters much smaller particles than foam. Best Regards Martin
Here’s mine only 3 three years old. A shop called Arthur’s Upholstery in Pasadena, CA did the job. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you. I use Rosso Service in Bel Air , Md Scott Lankford. I’m pretty sure he subs out the door cards to a guy that only does high end card.
Once more regarding my heater core filter mess above. I found this in the OM. Does anyone actually perform this? Image Unavailable, Please Login Best Regards Martin

I've cleaned mine a couple times; the first time was to remove the decayed old foam and completely clean everything in there (and it was pretty bad). I replaced with some AC/heater filter material from the hardware store.
It looks GREAT! I think redyed seats look even better after a couple of years of use. The tread gets dirty faster than the leather so within a year or two the seats no longer look like they've been redyed.
