I do find it amazing that when Binotto comes out and explains what they did, but that they will review their actions for the future, we are so quick to lash out at the team. Ferrari found themselves with a car that had issues in Australia, so much so that they KNEW they couldn’t challenge for a win, and were concerned to protect their position within the top five. Yes, the cars were running line astern with a pit stop plus more to the sixth place car, so in theory, LeClerc could pit and go for the point, but Ferrari were concerned the cars would not finish the race trundling around in safe mode..... why on earth would that translate into ‘go on Charlie, race the balls out of the car, screw the mechanicals, get that one point if you can (and risk losing those you have in the bag if you go off or blow up)’ and all the while knowing also that bottles was serenely lapping at the front with perfect tyre wear and a car that had all its power with which to simply snatch the point back even if it was won for a second.

I think we're all giving the Ferrari pit wall too much credit here.

    1) It's likely they were not even aware of the extra point available
    2) If they were, it's likely they didn't understand they had a 35 second lead for the free stop
    3) If they did, they likely did not realize what lap they were on and time ran out.

No question. The change of the livery upset the delicate aerodynamic balance of the car and compromised set-up. I blame Australia.

I suspect Ferrari forgot to put anti-coriolis additive to their fuel. It's a mistake they won't make next year, that's for sure.
