Very disappointed, after 2 Ferraris with no major problems, had a manetino failure on my 2013 spider. They found an oil leak on the gear box which will require major repair. 7500 miles on the car!

After having German engineering for about 15 years with Porsches without a single blip on daily drivers had the first reality check with Ferrari.

Have a deposit on a Pista, it makes me think twice.......

Man, I feel for you. That sucks. Hopefully the transmission can be repaired instead of replaced. Unfortunately, I don't think my power warranty would cover that, as leaks aren't covered. :-(

I had the same transmission kick the bucket in my AMG GT. At some point you point the finger at GeTrag, not Ferrari.

However, have you heard the phrase "sample of one"? Unfortunately, our single experiences just aren't enough data to draw meaningful conclusions.

My AMG GT had eight warranty repairs in under two years. I keep cars a decade, but soured so much I sold this one. My other AMG needed five separate repairs over $1k last year. My Porsche once spent three months of a year in for service while they gave us a Subaru to drive. Our friends started joking and calling the Subaru "our Porsche".

We had a Rav4 that we put 70,000 miles on, only changed the oil, the brake pads and rotors and the tires, and sold it for $5k less than we paid. Not a single issue, even when we willingly abused it and ignored the service manual.

You may think Ferrari is unreliable, I think German cars are unreliable. In the end, drawing conclusions from our very limited data is inevitable, but that doesn't make us right. Except maybe on the Toyota front. I think we'd all have fewer repairs if we bought Toyotas. ;-)

Well guys! What else could I expect on a Ferrari forum? Will hope to have more luck with the pista which I likely will keep for a very long time!

Agree, Ferrari is in a different league. Having said that, I was very proud to say I had no problem with Ferraris! Unfortunately cannot say that anymore.

Porsche is not immune to problems, and I am also a long time Pcar guy. Look at the 991.1 GT3 with the stop sale/engine fires and the 10 year warranty PAG provided to the owners after the solid lifter issue requiring with certain owners more than one full engine replacement as just one example.... It happens. Sorry to hear about your gearbox issue and I hope it gets resolved for you in a good way.

Sorry to hear about this as well, I understand why you'd question continued ownership of Ferrari, and personally I'd like to help, so instead of cancelling your Pista, get the car, reach out to me and I'll take that piece of crap off your hands!;)

The Pista also has the exact same gearbox with the same possible issues. The DCT gearboxes are a known problem area.

Conveniently for the OEM leaks are not covered after 36 months from new regardless of warrantee extensions. Thanks for letting us know. A lot of owners do not report issues like these on public forums so only the volume repair places know what's up. Hope they get it sorted to you liking. If the Pista has the same setup and the SW tightens up the on/off clutch swap to simulate a shift kick as reported then I can understand the concern. Either way you will have at least 36 months of driving pleasure!

Curious how Ferrari changed their gearboxes from Getrag to ZF (Porsche). ZF is known for much bigger tolerances to nm (torque for dummies eheh) meaning fully hybrid line up soon.
Also you cant say the gearbox in a GT3 RS is slow, thats ZF for you!
