Typical Classiche "restoration". Only two photos and it is easy to find a number of mistakes.

The wheels are one item. It appears the car now has twin "Daytona" style radiator cooling fan motors (GTB/C's had NO cooling fans). Wrong windshield wiper blades (should be "tubular" style).

Does the 275 GTB/C need a cooling fan when being used on the street and in traffic, Dyke?

The printed magazine TOFM contains 14 photos of 09027.

Steve: While I did not drive 9041 in heavy major city traffic, I did use it on the street throughout our ownership, and never had any cooling problems without a fan, pretty much like the GTO's.

    275 GTB/C 09041.

Thanks, Dyke. Talking of your old car, 09041, just out of interest, is that a cooling fan now fitted in the first pic? Also, it was sold recently by Tom Hartley Jnr with a spare engine fitted to save the original, which was sold with the car. Can you tell if this is a 250 motor as the throttle linkages are on the left and attached to the cam covers on the left whereas a 275 motor has the throttle linkages attached on the right hand side? See Marcel's pics of 09027's engine above.

Pics from Tom Hartley Jnr's site. Steve: It looks like somebody has fitted electric fans. Much of the originality of the car has been lost over the years, very sad. I have no idea about the current engine.

What's up with the engine number ( only oo14, with a D stamped over an R , another symbol to the right an a heavy line underneath)? The internal number of 132/64 also appears incorrect for this car. If Ferrari Classiche restored it, did they put in one of their new reproduction engine blocks so they could give it their blessing?

It is the correct and original engine according to RM Sotheby's description of the car for their 2013 auction. Sounds like the factory wrongly stamped the block in the rush to get the car ready for Le Mans, 1966 with 0014 whereas it should have been 09027?

    No.
    Everything is correct.
The complete and correct internal number is 1132/64 (first/leading "1" difficult to see due to angle of camera).
These Series II GTB/C's have their own engine number system and 0014 is perfect for 09027.

    See post #18.
The other stampings are scrutineering stamps (Le Mans, etc).

Series II 275 GTB/Cs 09051, 09063, 09067 and 09079 have the engine cylinder blocks stamped with the same number as the chassis. I haven't seen cylinder block engine number stamps pics of the other 7 of the 12 275 GTB/Cs.

Just out of interest does anyone have build sheets for 09027 or any other 275 GTB/C apart from 09051 which I have?
