I never re-plug the Bovee back into the adapter, but I do have to go to settings on my Iphone and turn off the bluetooth and then turn it back on and the Bovee is connected again. I guess you can unplug the Bovee or go to your settings/bluetooth and turn on/off to get the same results.
So i was able to finally find the connector location behind the air con control. thanks for the video! Spotify doesn't display the song name, anyone know the solution?
Hi - I have a 2013 458 w base radio and no nav - I was just told by local dealer service guys that there is no option for me to connect the ipod cable - that it requires nav version/radio. Was yours with nav? Thx
I have 2013 No Nav. Before I take the whole thing apart, I want to make sure someone with same (or earlier) year without Nav (I have standard "Becker" audio unit) was able to find it. Only because dealer told me there were two VIN splits on 458's with different specs. Kevin has 2014 - anyone w/ earlier no nav? Thanks so much...
I think you guys should at least try an FM transmitter before taking everything apart and trying (hoping) to retrofit an ipod adapter. They're only like $20.. I use an FM transmitter in my 458 and the output quality is just as good as the bovee device i use in my GT-R. I literally cannot tell the difference. Unless you're taking long trips and traveling across different FM transmitting regions, you're unlikely to experience choppy signal and need to change the station.. Even if you do, it takes a few seconds to change station signals to one that works.
Thanks, I would, but my issue is we have awful FM reception in our area because of so many hills/ravines. That's why I need wired ipod option. I did load a couple thousand songs on hard drive, but really want to get my spotify going if i can.
Mine's a 2011 with no nav. I actually tried to pay the dealer to put in the ipod adapter and they gave up. They were trying to plug it into the NIT instead of looking for the wiring harness tied off to the frame. Later, thanks to this thread, i tried myself and found the connector behind foam behind the hvac panel. Its in there, just follow the pics upthread and you should find it. Be careful with what the dealer tells you. I've caught a few inconsistencies with the parts counter and service department. Nothing worth shouting about, but details matter to this engineer.
Several of you have said access through HVAC panel/trim is easiest/best. I've removed bolts at bottom of that panel - and it's loose, but don't see how it detaches from top (just below vents). Any advice or pics? Thx!
I was in the same pickle So....I spnet 14 bucks and boughth bluetooth adapter that plugs in the cig lighter and it plays my mysic from note 8 . It can play sirius or any tunes.nice and SIMPLE!!!!
Well - I removed HVAC panel - can see entire area as all posted pics/videos, but there's no (open) connector plug/cable anywhere. I did not remove glove box. Mine is 2013 without nav - base Becker unit. Suspecting mine must be different or it's in different location that all of you, but seems unlikely.
Just use the re-pair method below. Mine displays track info for music stored on my device but will not display anything when I’m using streaming services. I have to do the same every time as well. Forget this device, turn BT off and back on, re-pair the device and wait 10 secs. It’s a pain on long trips. Every gas or bathroom stop you have to reset your music.
That's the reason I returned my Bovee after two days. Total PITA. Parked an Ipod Nano in the glove compartment of my 458 which was so much less hassle. Unfortunately, this precludes the use of Spotify. Fortunately, my Iphone X pairs with the Huracan's bluetooth every morning which is ideal since I only listen to Spotify these days.
Dear guys, some cars don't have this remote connector. I will try to find out chassis number details. Now I will remove pins from the accessory Ipod cable and insert them directly into the radio connector and see if it works. The 458 I'm dealing with has no Ipod wiring in it's radio connector.
A DOUBLE THREAD !! Read the other one please ! https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/retrofit-ipod-adapter-can-it-be-done-2014-458-spider.605028/#post-146755046
You guys should just skip the headache of taking your head unit apart and just buy a $20 FM transmitter from Amazon and be done with it. Sent from my SM-G960U using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Be careful, the Ipod cable does NOT plug into the radio (NIT). See pics on page 2. There is a connector on the end of the wire tied to the frame way behind the a/c control panel. It hides behind foam and an amplifier if the car has one.
Anyone have an IPOD cable for sale? I'll be removing my sticky buttons this winter including the HVAC so I figured I'll install an IPOD cable while the parts are out. I currently use an FM transmitter in my 2015 458 without issue or poor quality but since I'm in there I figured it would be a good add to the car in case I want to use it in the future. Thanks for any replies. Frank
Just took my 2015 Spider's dash apart to replace the charging cable and it does have this connector. Yes, I do have nav. I ordered the cable... I figure it is better to have it then not.
so are we clear that all variations of 458 can plug and play this cable? I have no nav, no iPod, upgraded JBL system.
