Hello everyone! I've been trying to track down a targa 348 that used to belong to a gentleman in my neighborhood in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, PA. All I know is that it was probably a 1990 model year, 348 Targa top with the black trim around the bottom lip of the car. The owner's name was John, I used to bike to his house as a kid and ask to see the Ferrari. He told me it used to be a race car, and that he won it from a raffle after the driver passed away, and he had the wing and decals taken off. (I have no idea if this was true, I was 11 at the time, and when I first met him he told me it was a 1990 Testarossa, so that gives you a level of indication how much he knew about the car.) Based on his knowledge about the car he might have actually won it from a raffle... If anyone can help me track it down that would be awesome, as of now I haven't found any pictures of me in it with a visible license plate. The owner John moved away a few years ago.
Interesting story hope you find it there are not that many of them. You may have a broken chain though as someone who bought it from him may have been out here and knew but then sold it, so new owner(s) may not know. BTW it was probably not a race car the challenge cars were post 92. Color may help especially if it was rare. Best if luck, great cars. Sent from my LM-Q710(FGN) using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Hi Charles, Presumably it was red? Any other distinguishing features? Maybe where the antenna was placed (if it had one) etc? sjd
You mean the factory Challenge cars. Still could have been a race car as many earlier cars were converted via the Challenge kit available from the dealer.
Yes it was definitely red. As for the antenna I'm not 100% sure, I only have 1 side profile photo of me in it from 2007 so I'll have to find that and look if I can see the antenna placement! I'll get back to you and I'll post the picture to the thread as well.
