I know of a (original) green 246 that runs/drives but is mostly, if not all original. Would need paint, interior and mechanical restoration to be "show quality."

Let’s be honest, even basket case Dino’s are hard to come by.

I wish I had knowledge of cars like this sitting around.

Bare metal restoration is probably only 250k - so that’s a little tricky with a Dino

I found this in the midwest a few years ago. But I can't get the owner to sell it. His daughter got in between us at the last minute, tough to value, we we're going to do it for $50K, but as referenced above, all in would likely take it to $200K+ in restoration.

(PS. yes, it was stored like that, with a tarp... :(

$250K to restore seems very high. I assume that is the cost to pay a proper shop and do zero work yourself.

$250k is the cost for a shop to do a 20ft restoration where the car drives like crap and half of the accessories in the car don't work correctly. To have a high level Ferrari restoration shop do a 100 point restoration where car drives like a new car and everything works like new costs much more.

Well that's just nuts. Glad I am capable of doing much work myself. All for paying for quality work but there are limits.

The hours go by when you strip one of these down and redo it to 100pts. Could have a couple thousand hours into one of these easy.

100 point Dino restoration...been there done that. Started with a complete running car and it took 7000 man hours not counting research and parts hunting. The Last 5% is brutal it easily doubles the budget and triples the timeline. $250K won’t get you anywhere close.

The Dino you describe was made from 1968 to 1974. Broken down into 206GT Coupe(1968 Euro Spec), 246GT L Series Coupe (‘69/‘70 all Euro Spec), 246GT M Series Coupe (‘70/‘71 all Euro Spec), 246GT E Series Coupe and Spyder(‘72 to ‘74 US and Euro Spec) You didn’t mention if you’re looking for a Coupe or Spyder. The 206’s are now over $600K. The 246GT L Series have a slight price premium depending on condition. M and E Series are similar priced if similar condition. Spyders have a slight price premium. E Series Coupes/Spyders optioned with the flares or “flares and chairs” option are up there in price similar to 206’s. As mentioned, Gullwing Motorcars usually has an inventory of “driver” Dinos. Here’s a couple of interesting examples for $249,500 and $279,500 https://www.gullwingmotorcars.com/1972-ferrari-246-gt-dino-c-3971.htm https://www.gullwingmotorcars.com/1973-ferrari-246-gt-dino-c-3749.htm

    Some more on EBay: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xferrari+dino.TRS0&_nkw=ferrari+dino&_sacat=6001&LH_TitleDesc=0&_sop=22&_osacat=6001&_odkw=ferrari

This Dino just sold on BaT for $380,000 https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-ferrari-dino-6/. The owner spent about $150K in restoration costs plus a lot of work done by himself. You can search and find the restoration thread on FChat.

I think realistically, complete Dinos with needs are in the range of $245K plus depending on the integrity/condition/model. Key Dino parts are far too expensive and hard to find to start with anything less than a complete car. There are no donor Dinos like other marques.

Good Luck and keep us posted on what you find!

Also, here’s a popular European site for finding Dinos: https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/search.html?dam=0&isSearchRequest=true&ms=8600;5&sfmr=false&vc=Car

1975-76 were the boxy Bertone bodied Dinos.

OTOH, have you seen this one? Current price is $180k
