Hello Martin, Not really... Until three years ago (if my memory serves me well, that is...) there was a difference in the registration title for a car above 30 years, "carte grise normale" (= standard title) versus "carte grise de collection" (collector's vehicle title) and the second one was indeed much lighter regarding obligations such as the technical visit (every five years, instead of every two years) BUT there were also considerable restrictions regarding circulation: you couldn't drive the car out of its departement of registration, etc... Nowadays many of these restrictions have disappeared, but not every; additionnally, whereas it is very easy to transfer you car from a standard title to a collector's vehicle title, the reverse is much more difficult, so you better be sure in weighting the advantages and disadvantages of each solution. That's a pity given the fact, that the FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens) is a french child. I have still not figured, how the french tax system works. How much is the annual tax for a 328 and how is it calculated? Best Regards Martin
There is no annual tax for the 328, Martin. It is not a new car, so it is not under the new "annual gaz guzzler tax". There is only a tax at registration, once and for all, when you buy the car; that tax depends on the region of registration, which have the possibility to make it evolve around a middle point; and as the car is more than 5 years old, you pay only half the tax: it was a "22 chevaux fiscaux" when new, so nowadays you pay half the tax for a new "22 cv", that is the same tax as a new "11 chevaux fiscaux". In other words, I paid something like 350 euros (??) when I registered #81085 in the "Département de la Moselle" in october 2008. There is nothing else to be paid as for taxes (aside from insurance, gas, tyres, oil, etc...). The mandatory "contrôle technique" is to be done every two years (= 65 euros). When, or if, I sell #81085 one day, the new owner will have to pay a new registration tax once and for all (Unless some clown invent a new tax in the meantime...) Rgds
Depends very much on: - if you have a daily driver insured by the same company or not...if you don't, well: it's expensive... - your duration of insurance without a claim: premiums are degressive: ten years without a claim, then you pay only 50% of the basic premium... Rgds
