Took both my red horsey cars out yesterday with some buddies and just loved the breadth of experience. I am pretty stunned the 430 is that much different (I don’t have hardly any experience in one) but then at the same time I am not. The 355 is just from another time, eh? Enjoy! Congrats on driving it home - interesting that you had to drive your 355 Ferrari 355 miles to get it home! Good job you didn't get a 575 Maranello!

Tell me more about how you compare the 355 to the 430. I have a 430 and am tempted to get a gated 355.

    Awesome, congrats.

Also I was up in Holland with my 355 when we did the photos at the wind mill. Year before last.

The Gated Takes slightly more concentration than an F1 where you just watch RPMs
F1 has more kick slamming between gears I think. My 355 has a Tubi and Hypersomething Cats (Really Sweet Soundtrack)
My Old Vettes have just 4 speed sticks, so this is my 1st 6 speed Manual which takes a bit more concentration, didn't miss any shifts on the 1st drive.

Make believe the gates aren't there and just shift.

That's a beautiful F355 Spider. Drive it in good health.

The size difference is crazy! Same with the 991 to the older 911's... Wow.

    I had a gated 355 Spider and I now have a gated 430 Spider.

My 355 also had a Tubi with Hyperflow cats, and my 430 has Capristo headers with plugged valves. Both have a "light on it's feet" nimble feel. Being a generation newer, the 430 is very solid.

But to me the biggest difference is the sound ... there's nothing, absolutely nothing, like the sweet sound of a 355. My 355 was the only car that I felt a little sad to let go.

Which is probably why I still come back to this 355 forum, just to see what's going on ...

I was wondering if the power difference was a factor or not. The 430 hits the sweet spot for power on the street - makes me wonder if the previous generations felt underpowered or not?

It depends on the measure. Hellcat drivers feel everything is under powered. Is that true? To someone perhaps.

I find feel and handling are more rewarding. Miata is arguably the best street driven sports car at any price and power is not why. That's top gear voring that the good one on BBC.

For sure the 430 has more power and feels stronger through the gears than the 355, but like Eric says, power is not everything. The 355 has a wonderful feel that's hard to explain until you drive one.

I was there with the Yellow Corvette as my 430 was at the Ferrari Dealer getting the things I knew when I bought it sorted. TPMS, Major Oil, Filters etc & the one thing I didn't know Clutch which was at 1% (Bad PPI choice on my part, Earl Gibbs North Coast Exotics, recommended here but turned out he does work for that dealer... another Story I've told)

The 355 Being Small sure feels fast/quick
Basically I would feel I'd lose a drag race vs something newer.
I have a Tesla P100D with Ludicrous option & that is 0-60 in 2.3 seconds so the 355 should feel slow with a 4.8 second 0-60, but fast in a straight line isn't everything in my book. I like the Engine/Exhast Sounds, Quickness and Feel flying around a winding road.

    Congratulations on your new 355.
    I am a 20+ year 355 owner and I have a P100D as well.

The only thing the two cars have in common to me is the stupid grin on my face when they excel at what they do best.

Quick and fast are so different, comparing a 355 and a Ludicrous P100D is a perfect example IMHO.

    Enjoy!!!

I have a 760rwhp Hellcat. Great car but still nowhere near as fun as my 340rwhp F355.
