    Hello together,

I think, this should be discussed here on our subforum too. What do you think?
At €14.000.00 for two days incl. VAT and one companion I think ripoff.

Though it's great to see, how they promote our cars. And looking at a carb drysump engine on page 8.
Can't remember when I have seen the last one in a printed, official Ferrari publication. (see attached pdf)

So for $10,000 US I get to learn to drive a manual? Learn the history of the 308, attend a rally and if I shipped my car over they would give me a driving lesson? Do I understand this correctly? Does this include hotel accommodations?

No: I think you spend two days being taught to race their 4 x 308s & 1 x Mondial

It does not involve your own car or a 'rally'

But the cost is nearer fourteen thousand bucks for the first person.....

Don't wanna be nitpicking, but don't ignore italian VAT at 22% and currency exchange rate. Not USD, but €.

So including VAT and a companion, with today's exchange rate it would sum up to $ 16.000.00. $ 13.800.00 without companion.

    I believe not.

    Wow.

Ferrari’s Classiche program has actually become even more insipid than it was before.

Sorry guys, it’s early and just having the 1st cup of coffee. Wow.. hope they have enough room. Sounds like this one will sell out quickly. LOL

Will they throw in a T-shirt?

I meanwhile think, that this offer rather aims at owners of modern Ferraris than at us.
To show them some kind of vintage feeling. I myself don't need to learn, how to change gears, how to brake. And if I want to experience the limits of my car I can get lessons for a few hundred bucks on the nearby private racetrack of the former official french Ferrari dealer for East France.

BTW. The title page of the brochure is probably fraud, since I assume, that there's no Michelotto Gr.4 308 available to try out :)

People spend similar sums of money on a vacation cruise, a weekend at an exclusive hunting club (or safari), a trip to Las Vegas (including gambling), or a few days in New York (shows, a shopping spree, and fine dining). Even a family trip to Disneyworld can reach $6K.

This Academy experience isn't within my recreational budget - and neither are those others - but it would appeal to me more than those others as well.

now if they also I had a day in a GTE and maybe more exclusive access to the 50-60's Ferrari world, then I could see some more demand for me.

just the looks of this $14k for a 308 and Mondial (how to drive) = the stupidest thing I've EVER seen from Ferrari.

My friendly Alfa specialist is running a track day next month. Less than 200 euro.
OK It is Fiorano and they provide a GTB. But come on!

At one point in time you could have purchased a 308 for $14K or a 250GTO and a Pontoon fender 250 Testarossa.

I’m sure a Ferrari business analyst has concluded 308 owners are currently under-exploited

For that kind of money you can experience driving an F1 on track.Ok not a Ferrari or Fiorano.

If they throw in the Paddock club at Monza including flights, 4 days 5 star hotel ,meals etc, and a few other goodies might be interesting.;)

*IF* they threw in the Classiche certification for your car it would make more sense but there is very little reason to spend that kind of cash for what they are offering IMNSHO.

    "Ferrari Classiche Academy

    Dear Martin Nxxxxxx,

Only those who own classic Ferraris enjoy the privilege of reliving the thrill experienced by the great drivers of the past who contributed to Ferrari's unique history. The dynamics, sensations, sounds and technique involved in driving a classic Ferrari are completely different to a modern one.

But owners can now further hone and deepen the experience of driving - and becoming one with - those great thoroughbred cars thanks to the Ferrari Classiche Academy course.

This new initiative is the first of its kind and comprises two days of theory combined with track driving at Fiorano. Ferrari Classiche experts will familiarise participants with the history of classic cars.

Driving cars with mechanical transmissions and no electronic controls whatsoever also opens up the possibility of taking part in classic car events, such as regularity trials and concours d’elegance.

All to ensure you make the very most of every moment behind the wheel of your Ferrari.

Please contact your dealer for further details or email: [email protected]

Sounds as if we 308 owners become very privileged

I received this offer too, that has been sent to all Ferrari owners registered on Ferrari site. The price is out of mind for my pockets, but that's the only reason why I won't do it, as it would be a fantastic experience. What I like a lot is that Ferrari for the first time is giving 308 the status it deserves as a classic Ferrari. Last month on TOFM they gave the 208 turbo the official grade of "pioneer" in Ferrari history, now 308 is "the classic Ferrari" and they just joined a Mondial for "tallest driver" as we all know 308 is not very comfortable for tallest driver.

And let me say that seeing the picture with the three 308 on Fiorano track is fantastic and gives me an incredible satisfaction as a multiple owner of such a Ferrari classic beauty.

    Ciao

It IS great to hear that Ferrari is acknowledging the 308 in this way. I attended the factory tour on the last week of September 2015, which was the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the 308, and there was nothing about it. Nothing. Ferrari has been referencing the 308 more and more when promoting its new designs, starting with the 488.

Are the last two cars in the promotional photo US-spec cars? The grilles look black. (The middle car might be a 1983 US QV.)

It is interesting that the "Booking Procedure" page references "dealeships" as the booking agent, as though the dealership might provide to a customer a trip to the Academy. Perhaps there are unlisted discounts for favored customers/dealers.
