what's sad is that it was actually a decent race, good ol' short track bash fest. I enjoyed it. that's the depth of NASCAR's problem...they have gotten to the point where, after years of convincing people to show up for bad shows, they can't get people to show up for a good show.

if the post race inspection requires the cars to be identical to pre race inspection everyone would be disqualified...I'm not really concerned about that. it's not a performance advantage to have to race a car that was destroyed on the first lap ;)

I was at the Richmond 400 last night. My first NASCAR race. The seats were about 1/3 full and the atmosphere much tamer than I expected. It was fun but oval racing to me is just boring to watch.

Popping around the channels last night, ran across the NASCAR race at Richmond just
    as they went green.

From TV viewer's perspective, it was difficult to gauge the crowd size as the cameras were
intentionally not showing the grandstands. Whenever I'd tune it in, there seemed to be an
inordinate amount of in-car camera stuff which was actually pretty decent but again, keeping the
    attention off of the grandstands.

The NASCAR nonsense has even driven the knuckle draggers away. Amazing the nonsense,
a "competition yellow" (whatever that is) about 10 laps in. And, then the "Stage 1" stuff.

People go to races to see racing, not an orderly procession with no passing low lighted by
even more unnecessary cautions and stops in the action every half hour.

I actually read somewhere this week, one of the NASCAR hierarchy going on about how this
"stage" racing is engaging new fans and keeping their attention on the races, all this. Yeah, sure
Cletus, whatever you say. As long as the lines at the Mountain Dew stands keep moving, what
    do they care?

So....anyone catch the Kansas race last night? If you watch for the wrecks, keep scrolling, but if you can appreciate non-stop, good, old fashioned aggressive RACING, then watch it when they release it on YouTube. That was one of the best 1.5 mile races I have seen in years. It very well could have rejuvenated NASCAR.

it was a great show. I hope they can replicate it at other 1.5/2 mile tracks.

Missed it. But, then again, wasn't really looking for it either.

The thing is, the past couple of NASCAR races, the local Miami FOX affiliate isn't showing
the events. If you're in Miami and want to watch NASCAR, you have to watch FOX "Deportes",
    the Spanish version.

We all know NBC and FOX are losing money by the boatload covering NASCAR but when local
affiliates are opting for alternative programming, you know things are dire.

Only NASCAR races I watch ever are Daytona, but I tuned in for this and it was pretty entertaining. Perfect @ 1.5 hours long. Four segments to bunch everyone up on new tires was great, too. I liked how those in trouble and needing to pit didn't lose a lap as there was typically a caution (per usual in NASCAR). Logano and Harvick both being pretty far back after untimely pits were right back in the hunt. 4 wide racing was nice to see, too.

I can't ****ing figure out NASCAR fans. They've been complaining for years that there wasn't enough excitement or rivalries. Now we have both and they are still bitching.

    And this is the problem.

NASCAR listening to every Cletus in the country on how they think the series could be better while trying
to remain within the framework of the NFL's and WWE's business plans.

If they'd stop with the listening to the fans bit, make rules that are set in stone and not changing on a weekly
basis, that would be a good place to start.

Just ask Penske and Ganassi, the Indy Car business model is working much better for them than NASCAR's
    now.

There is no pleasing everyone. Anyone in this business understands that from day one. But, NASCAR has gone so far off the reservation with all this nonsense that hardly anyone cares anymore.

How many cautions have there been so far in stage 1? 753 or 754 yellow flags? That's what it feels like. Lol this is ridiculous.
