When I did my windows, I searched for an original part to no avail. I decided to look for a rubber washer that would provide some protection and be close to the original. I found a plumbing washer that serves the same function and is close to the original. Its an American Standard "Top Hat" washer, #9D0036565B. Its available from Ace Hardware #4016739. The original has a small round extension that fits into a hole that keeps it in place. The new washer does not and has to be glued on with some contact cement.

Sometimes you just have to be creative and settle for function over form...plus its hidden in the bowels of your door so no one is ever going to see it.

    Hi Andrew,

I went to an industry supplier and installed something similar like this. This is now twenty years ago and they still look like new. Was a bit of fiddling to get the nut onto the stud, but it worked:

If you turn an amplifier upside down each corner has a rubber feet. They can be bought in different sizes and in harder or softer rubber. I used that.

You're both right. The McMaster Carr catalogue is due a read. Hard to Google as you get all sorts of rubbish.

McMaster Carr has rubber bump stops that have an 8mm threaded hole in them. I use some 8mm threaded rod to fabricate the stud for the rest of the stop.

I bought these on eBay last year and were as close to a perfect replacement as I could find. Same fitment, same dimensions, just didn't have the recessed top. Came from somewhere like Lithuania or Romania if my memory is correct

I looked at ebay but missed those. I'd have bought if I'd seen 'em. However bought 8 of Martins solution tonight. (2 for each door). McMaster Carr is great for a huge range and getting ideas but ackward for Ireland with shipping and duty.
