Thanks, hopefully we will get a buyer before too long. When we started the project (about two and a half years ago) the market was around $550k for that house. But hey, times change!
I would have guessed it was not large enough for you John, just thought I would throw it out there.
I'll let you know if I find any deals in northern Palm Beach county (or Martin county).
    :)

John I see you happy as hell in Ft. Lauderdale. Lots of action, easy plane connections, close to South Beach for the weekend and keys. They have a lot of car dealers including Ferrari if you want to get back in and great weather. Go to Bahamas on the boat or take a cruise or private plane. Plus I only live 40 miles north and could visit.

WOW, I am really surprised that you haven't sold that house yet! God I wish they had one of our companies near there.

Coupes are better in FL. The sun can be brutal after having owned several convertibles here in the south.

Avoid Jacksonville and surrounding areas -- worst drivers on the face of the Earth! Add to that, ambulance/"big insurance"-chasing lawyers have become a huge industry here -- they literally survive off the accidents that result from such horrible driving habits. (Just watch the local news / listen to local talk radio, and the primary advertisers are Morgan & Morgan, Farah & Farah, Harrell & Harrell -- and those are just the "big ones"). Get behind the wheel, and you are gambling your life and finances away -- and will most likely find yourself in litigation before you know it! Front and rear facing cameras in each of your personal vehicles is a MUST, especially if you own/drive a company vehicle with name on the side. And I thought Orlando was bad! :)

Just returned from a winter in Fort Lauderdale...MIL is 92, and we like to keep an eye on her.
Pretty boring. No decent car or motorcycle roads. Had to use GPS b/c there are no landmarks...miles and miles of tan stucco retail strip malls with red neon. The only "hills" are the landfills.
Culturally? Meh. Hey, I'm an ex NYC er so I'm spoiled in that regard, but the highlight was Sebastian Maniscalco at the BBT Center...other acts come thru, Pink, Bob Seger...And you'll be amazed at the aging rockers that are A. Still alive and B. Playing the various casinos.
Museums? There's a private Packard collection in downtown Ft Laud...
Upside? T shirt, shorts, boat shoes and out the door. FLL is an easy airport; Miami is a rolling cluster...
Cuisine? I'm married to a foodie, hit a couple of nice places. Great BBQ out at the beach.
Good part? Gulf Stream keeps the East Coast warm. Miami's 1/2 hour away. FL Turnpike is a godsend, I-95 S of Boca is insane.
I can see doing winters there...but youngest daughter went to U Miami. Miami in August is the equivalent of the Bataan Death March.
If it matters, a FL CCW is easy.

Is Jai Alai still a thing in south Florida? I remember seeing that a lot visiting family friends down there growing up. Maybe they bulldozed those down to put up more strip malls...

I grew up in Orlando and haven't lived there in over a decade...it's too crowded now. Small areas like Windermere are nice, but not worth it imo. If I do ever move back it will have to be NW central FL area like Clermont, which has real hills and nice driving roads (only place in FL). And decent lakefront lots still available. And it's next to the turnpike..

Best post so far! We left Florida 7 years ago, and I don't really miss it. Too many rude people there for my taste. Life is too short to spend listening to people gripe about the fan blowing on them at a restaurant.

Jawja / North Cackilacky for the win!
