Saw that. So there are still Sauber engineer's and Sauber mechanics but Alfa-Romeo by name as one of the commentators mentioned. (with help from Ferrari)
You heard it here first: French Group PSA (Peugeot, Citroen, DS and Opel) intends to merge with, or buy outright FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automotive). FCA owns Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Maserati and ... Alfa Romeo. PSA successfully bought GM Europe (Opel and Vauxhall) and has some Chinese capital (Dongeng holds 14%). No idea if PSA will be successful in their bid, but it may make a difference for Alfa Romeo's F1 involvement, just as they took over Sauber.
Neither do I, to be honest. In my opinion, PSA is a front for more Chinese investment in the European car industry. When they bought Volvo outright, the EU passed a law that no company should sell more than 15%of its shares to Chinese investors. So, to go around that the Chinese are 15% stock in different companies (Mercedes and Peugeot for example) instead. The Chinese are interested in buying brands they could exploit, and access to the latest technology. The only way they could increase their capital in PSA, is if the group grows by absorbing more companies. FCA is ailing, and vulnerable to hostile bid. It would also open the door to the American market. There will be more mergers and acquisitions in future.
