View attachment 2693119 View attachment 2693119 79 308 GTS -On the underside of the spoiler, the body color flows under the bonnet. Does the color continue all the way covering all of the metal? Or is there a black transition part way back? I'm getting my lid painted and the painter said the original 328 he was working on has the black underside starting about 1" under the fold. I was just wondering if anyone has an original paint 308 could confirm one way or another.
    Thank you

    Thank you, gentlemen,
Could we agree that this scheme includes 2v carb cars?

I was wrong. I dug through my photo library and found this picture of 30247. An untouched original car.

The other is correct for 308QV and 328

    Brian,
    Thanks for the update!
You had me sweating.. : ) I could not see how my 308 paint was not original.
After reading your reply, I spent over 3 hours this morning on google searching 76 - 79 308 car photos to validate or be bummed on what I would find.
There are not many photos of this item on the web. During my search, I found most of the 76 to very early 78's had no black under the lip and the 78-79 had the lines per Brian and my photos. I did notice restored 78 and 79's with no black line.
I am going to do more research to validate and record my findings for the 308's.

Well, I went with the lip on my November ‘78 build. It’s being painted as I type this message.
Thanks to all for the input and photos ! What a great community :)

Looks like I need to find the little round rubber boot that covers the center hole where the Ferrari script in secured

The picture is of a car well known by me and was all original. It was built in November 79.

My '77 had no black, all body color under there. I'm not sure when they changed, but it was one of those weird things I noticed. Personally, I preferred the no black version.

Was just about to ask how you know this, then spotted the grill in the background. Good catch! :)

OK, I'm looking and I'm looking and to me it looks like a 308. I see what look to me like 288 engine covers in the background, but they don't seem to be related to this car. I see its rear deck cover hanging off the back. The underside, incidentally, is painted black. It's really hard to say if the area in the original question is black or red. I see what I think are headlight buckets and covers up front. But I don't see bumpers. And the body form really looks to me to be like a 308 GTS. Please help me out because I think I'm going crazy now...

Plus, that guy in the blue coveralls is my dad and he told me that he only worked on the 308 line...

Are you guys thinking this is a 288 GTS?

Front hood louvers hanging behind the guy in the blue coveralls. They are noticeably wider (328) then one on a 308. :)

The unpainted decklids behind the production line are for 348s. There was a time in 1989 when both 348 and 328 were made side by side. For me that dates the photo fairly precisely.
