Its only when you are looking for non red do you realise just how high the percentage is of red 328's in the UK. Europe or US - no problem. I have been lookng for a non red 328GTS for over 8 months, but they are all red. Does anyone know the stats for colour of UK 328's, or is it not available information. Thanks.
Yes. Give or take: 542 RHD 328 GTS originally imported to the UK. Of which: 16 Black 19 Blue 3 Grey 2 Light Blue 4 Silver 7 White 3 Yellow 423 RHD 328 GTS currently* registered in the UK. Of which: 11 Black 12 Blue 1 Grey 1 Light Blue 3 Silver 2 Yellow * Current as at November 2018 when I last updated my colour split but it won't be much different today.
I assume that means all the others were / are red. That's 9 out of every 10 - good grief! No wonder you are having a problem.
Yes. On the same basis: 130 RHD 328 GTB originally imported to the UK. Of which: 5 Black 7 Blue 1 Grey 1 Light Blue 1 White 100 RHD 328 GTB currently registered in the UK. Of which: 3 Black 8 Blue 2 Grey 1 Light Blue 1 White 2 Yellow (both these cars were originally red)
Looks like it may take a long time to find a car !! Hmmm, now should I consider changing a red car into a non red car...... The irony is that in the 80's I changed a white 308 into a red 308
Well some of the cars that are now red were not originally so changing one back to original would be a good thing as far as I'm concerned. What colour do you want? There is a black one for sale here: https://www.thesupercarrooms.co.uk/car-details/ferrari-328-gts-abs-for-sale-G126 and a blue one here: https://www.carsto-go.co.uk/used-ferrari-328-bournemouth-dorset-2075204
Re the colour change, the white to red 308 now lives in Australia, it would be a red 328 changing colour ! The issue is though that to do it properly it is not a good exercise from a financial point of view as the upper values of 328's are to low (relatively). I travelled to the Midlands to view the black Supercar Showrooms car, a complete waste of time (pm me if anyone wants details of the car or the seller), and the TDF blue car recently changed hands at auction. It has had a hard life ! Thanks for the links though.
Yes definitely wouldn't be a good move financially to do a colour change. What are you ideally after? There aren't many cars to choose from even if they were all actually on sale but I do have further details so perhaps you might try getting in touch with any owners of cars in the colour combo you prefer. PM if you prefer.
I assume it is 348 ts you're interested in: 261 RHD 348 ts originally imported to the UK. Of which: 14 Black 13 Blue 1 Green 2 Grey 2 Silver 2 White 6 Yellow 190 RHD 348 ts currently registered in the UK. Of which: 7 Black 8 Blue 1 Green 2 Grey 2 Silver 1 White 5 Yellow
Johnathan, you are a mine of information and never cease to amaze me. Do you by any chance have similar statistics on either 246GTs or 550s?
More-or-less but I don't want to post them yet. It is still work in progress. The older cars (like Dinos) are harder to keep track of.
Years ago I decided to purchase an 328GTB. But I wanted an Euro LHD blue with beige interior AND with concave wheels. I finally found one and I bought it … 6 months after buying a classic Rosso Corsa and one year and half of research. Non red even in Europe are not easy to find. There are some black ( 11% of the total produced ) but several color are very rare. You will find your 328, but you will need patience
Very interesting Johnathan. These information come from Maranello Concessionaires archives I suppose ? I had some mail with Tony Willis but I would love to be able to consult these document one day ! To my knowledge there is no much archives from period importer still aviailable in the world. And any are get-at-able You don't stipulate others RHD 328 sold new outside of UK ? UK type for export and Australia ( GTS ) 100 RHD 328 GTB currently registered in the UK. Of which: 3 Black 8 Blue 2 Grey 1 Light Blue 1 White 2 Yellow (both these cars were originally red)[/ You manage to follow all of them ? If yes congrats
It is much more complicated than that. My information comes from lots of sources and is merged together, cross-checked and so on. Tony is always very helpful but it would be entirely unfair to bother him every time I had a small question and he would never get anything else done. I don't know how many 328 GTS' were new to Australia and even if I did it would be of no help unless Dudlow planned to go to Australia to buy a car!
