Morning all. I am looking for the right preowned 488gtb (spider still out of my financial comfort zone) and I saw a beautiful build at Ferrari of San Francisco. The salesman said it was a Taylor Made car but everything looks like off the rack options selections to my eye. Is there a way to tell? It isn’t labeled as Taylor Made anywhere. And actually I guess it doesn’t matter other than for my comfort that the sales guy is being honest with me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Could be Atelier. I would guess that a TM is going to be expensive for a GTB in the context of a spider being out of reach. Usually TM cars are about $70-$100k more than well spec’d standard cars. Some of that will no doubt be lost but if the build is nice I guess it would cost at least what a spider does extra. It is usually listed in the spec plate under the hood.
My incoming Pista will be TM, and you will be very easily be able to tell because of a few stand out items (door sill in TM writing and dedication plate next to seats) .. I added some pics to show you. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There's a blue TM 488 for sale on the classifieds. Take a look at the options list on the sticker...high "Other" options is a good sign, special paints, many times there is a few things like the above poster showing TM dedication.
Here's the link to the other guy's TM 488. Absolutely stunning IMHO. *I have no affiliation w/ this car/person, just see something pretty special https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/tailor-made-2017-488-gtb.597390/
Provide the last 6 of the VIN and I can pull the option sheet. IT will say whether or not the car was tailored made. Feel free to private message me if you want. I agree with Ray btw. If you want a gorgeous tailor made 488 gtb definitely check out the link he provided. I have no affiliation with the car or person either.GTB
Thx all and apologies for my spelling error. It’s been a 40+ year issue... It didn’t have the TM door sills. However, it sold in like 48hrs soooooooo I’ll keep looking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
While we’re on the subject, do people have a view on used tailor made cars? Assuming they are spec’d nicely and being a TM are a one of one build, what percentage extra over a similarly spec’d but more normal build would fchatters pay? Does the history behind the build count for anything, such as “I spec’d a car like Moss’s dark blue 250 with white bonnet stripe because if what it means to the brand...”? Does it being a one of one build add to the appeal (no-one else has one like it)?
For tdfs they are zero to negative depending on how awful the spec is. Not sure what owners started smoking between 458 apertas and tdfs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Could be a negative. Some of these TM's are highly personalized and the more personalized the spec, the smaller the pool of 2nd hand buyers. Ergo why many recommend Resale Red.
Or could be a positive. As god as my witness I was offered $2 million for my Tdf last year at Pebble Beach.
Urs is unique and tasteful. Most TMs are not. If you ever sell urs will Be interesting to see what u get. I cld see 10 to 20 percent premium to market for a specific buyer. So when tdfs were 1.4 that 2m kind of makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All it takes is one second hand buyer to like your spec. But unless you're color blind, many if not most of the TM's would only appeal to a small fraction of potential buyers. Furthermore, the inflated and often exorbitant TM specs makes the potential sale cost-prohibitive for many. Not saying all, but many.
I agree. Today I think if I offered it for sale it would command a lot less. But I just bought a matching GTO so that's not in the cards atm.
Love both If u can manage to take a close up of both cars side by side wld love to see the comparison Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
