Thank's MacGeek. And if you would also post some photos of the car that would be great. :) Just kidding, and stay safe. FCA should consider this free advertising to possible buyers.

As much as I hate to say this, why is Maserati not using this development money to come up with some much needed renewed and updated mainstream luxury sedans?

Ok, nevermind I said that... I will love this GAS POWERED sportscar, plus the above statement makes to much sense for FIAT to do it :) That's why we love them so much.

Gas powered, but there will be an electrification element to it. And you'll need to make sure you don't get your hair messed up by the wind

There will be MCAs for Quattroporte and Ghibli.

Indeed. My source says that Maserati is divorcing itself from Ferrari supplied engines and is now striking out on their own? All over engine failures in the V6 line. Ferrari blaming Chrysler and Chrysler/Maserati blaming Ferrari.

Clearly this does not apply to the V8s.

But perhaps this does not happen all at once?
Does this mean all Ferrari technology will eventually disappear?
They ARE a very expensive supplier but Ferrari benefits too from this relationship with volume.

    Seems dumb.

When and where is the new model likely to be presented?

Not sure how accurate this is...

"Maserati lovers do not have to fear that Maserati becomes the Italian Tesla. A lower emission will be less important for the future of the brand with the trident . That says Al Gardner of Maserati North America in an interview with Motor Trend. Pure emotion remains of primary importance and can only be experienced by a gasoline engine according to the American boss.

The brand from Modena is experiencing a slightly too quiet period at present, but according to Gardner, that is the silence for a new phase full of innovations. Every 6 months something new will be presented, at least until 2022. Starting with the Alfieri that will be presented next year in Geneva. Maserati thus keeps its reading and works on a new GT and Spyder to replace the long running Granturismo and the GranCabrio. Possible even with completely new engines under the hood. Next, the rest of the range is also heavily addressed. Harald Wester has returned to monitor this process together with commercial director Jean-Philippe Lakshman."

If these comments are true Maserati has come to their senses about electric cars. Hybrid is the only way to go for them. We need nice Maserati Italian sound coming from the exhaust system :) Same goes for Ferrari and Alfa Romeo.

Let's go back to the beginning. People started buying Italian sports cars because they looked and sounded nice and some of them handled well.

    More info on the motors:

"Maserati invests as we know in new engines and electrical engineering in the coming years. Harald Wester recently announced that there is a new engine block to come as a basis for the entire range of the Modenese brand. The debut of this power source is probably accompanied by the introduction of a completely new GT that we can already admire next year.

The independent role that Maserati will play in the coming years, makes the brand more flexible and stronger in commercial terms. Between 2021 and 2022, the delivery of Ferrari engines will stop altogether. From this we can also conclude that Maserati's new GT Alfieri, will not share a power source with, for example, a Portofino or future Dino (possibly the other way around?). For these leading brands, it is therefore deliberately chosen for the necessary differentiation, which is the advantage of both companies. The new engine of Maserati will also serve as the basis for Alfa Romeo we expect, since both brands continue to work closely together in a technical way, with Modena as a home base."
