a well sorted ( new valve guides, clutch, etc.) and documented 550 with 50K miles. Or a 575 with 11K miles? Prices essentially the same
either the 575 is really cheap or someone thinks they can get $100K + for a 50k mile 550....... i'd say the 575
Most times this question has been asked before the answer boiled down to whether an F1 transmission is acceptable
+1 I love the 575 interior, slightly sleeker but makes it look 15 years newer. But no question for me, especially for that era gearboxes....Manual all the way.
what is the intended purpose ? driving ?.....if so ,would you prefer a manual or f1 ? how can you ask us, we are all so ridiculously biased!
Choose the one you like the most! I feel that even though the 575 is much better in most aspects, the 550 is and will always be the original of that design. In essence, the way it was created in the first place. If you want a Mercedes S-Class, you don’t buy a Lexus... Rational thinking is not my biggest strength. That’s why I ended up driving a Ferrari V12 !
This will be a daily driver( maybe 6K miles/ year). I have a 612 OTO with a newer F1 transmission and love it. Not so sure about the older version. I’m thinking 3 pedal. What’s it worth?
I hope you and your wife make it to Biltmore this year in the new car! I am bringing my 456 GT this year. Your 612 was a great addition to the usual mix of cars at the few events I saw you at in 2018. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Could you please pm me the info on the 550? Sounds like a great car at market value. Congrats on the 575! The 575 and 550 are actually fairly different due to the trans. Different strokes for different folks!
The correct answer is one of each. The issue is always that more garage space is required. But congrats on your purchase but then I’m “fair and balanced” unbiased........very much like BlueB and everyone else here lol. Any Maranello is a good decision IMO.
I think you did the right thing. I'm a 100% dyed-in-the-wool manual guy, and the F1 actually hasn't bothered me. Further, 550s are of course wonderful cars, but if the price were the same between a manual 575 and a 550 I'd take the 575 every time. Just my cup o' tea, I suppose
