If Leclerc can manage to win this race, he'll be the first homegrown winner since Louis Chiron 88 years ago...
Monaco is almost ready for the Grand-Prix. The grandstands are almost finished being built, the motorhome is done, they’ve placed new asphalt on the road a couple of weeks ago and freshly painted the yellow pit exit lines this morning! Only 27 days. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ira, looking forward to my 1st Monaco GP this year. My experience will be limited as I will only be attending the race on Sunday but also got tickets at K section . Really looking forward to it and hope for Leclerc and Vettel being on the podium that weekend.
One can only hope! Have big fun- this experience never gets old for me! FWIW, K is actually quite long, stretching from K1 (by Tabac) down to K8 (entrance to the swimming pool complex), but if you're in a high enough row the view can be pretty panoramic. From my perch in the top row of K2 I can see from just after the exit of the tunnel all the way over towards the pool, and since there's no one behind me I can turn around and see the front straight as it leads into Ste. Devote.
I got my ticket but sadly travel plans have changed. So sorry that I can't meet you trackside. This will be the first time in about 20 years that I won't go to a GP. Hoping for a better chance next year.
I was there two weeks ago and they were busy setting up. Very exciting. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm always amazed to see that when I go out for a walk on the Monday morning after the race, they're already busy disassembling everything. In fact, I've seen the giant screen by the harbor coming down on Sunday evening!
I have never been to the F1 race but due to a funny coincidence I once arrived in Monaco on the Monday just after the GP. I was able to drive relatively fast on about 80% of the circuit around midnight/ early Tuesday. Most of the circuit was still drivable, excluding the Casino area, but there were few people still in the city, and almost no police. The most fun part was driving "flat out" after the hairpin and all the way throughout the tunnel, using the sidewalk curbs of turns 6 and 7. I regret not having done a third lap that day because that combination of no traffic and no police seems very rare in Monaco. Ferrari's 1-2 at Monaco in 2017 was the only bright spot that year for me. It was actually the only race I watched that season as I was sick of the new formula (Still am, but I watch now). I would love to see another Ferrari 1-2, but Vettel second this time.
