But they didn't think the tyres (remember this years tyres are the special Mercedes tyres from last year) would last and they might have been right. That said, I think the history of the last few years has shown that it is always better to gamble on track position rather than be trying to pass people on what you hope is a faster tyre. But I find it hard to get too bothered about whether they finish 4th or 5th when Mercedes are so far ahead. By the way, you can tell that Mercedes know just how far ahead they really are in that they're letting Bottas win races rather than have him trundle around keeping everyone else from getting too close to Hamilton.
A masterclass chinning of Lewis by Val! Ferrari-and the rest of the field-too slow.... Bring back liberal in season testing.
It’s one thing to win a race. Mercedes is humiliating Ferrari by concretizing 1st and 2nd in very race so far. This is showing the absolute superiority of their team as a whole. I know I’m stating the obvious but think about this. This is their goal and they have strategically achieved it in a way unseen before. Even Ferrari hasn’t done this I don’t believe. Ferrari need to hire some brains fast. What aren’t they.
To all the Vettel naysayers out here I hope this race really showed you who has more talent in the team. And please let's face the reality NONE of the Scuderia drivers will be Champion this year. It will be a Mercedes steamroller [again] this year AND in 2020.
Well, dudes and dudettes, I have some things to do. I'll join you for the next self-flagellation meet up.
08:53 "We're all performing really, really well," says Bottas, summing up the mood perfectly. Mercedes execution has been sensational in 2019, made to look even better by the error-stricken Ferrari.
