Show up with ur pink slip and $1k and it should take a couple of days. Very little mystery to it.

No, I haven't inquired yet. Gulp, $1,000 is steep, but sounds like it may be the only option.

Call the dealer he will tell you what to do.
Your looking at about 1,000 with programming.
I’ve had to do it on my 458

Just did it last week . Show up with the title or registration for proof of ownership and you need the card with the electrical code and mechanical code to cut the key. If you don't have that they can get it off the VIN but it will cost you another 100.00 . The dealer gets the key from Ferrari and you take the car with the card for the electrical code and they program it . I had to negotiate a little but it cost me 971.00

What others quoted on price and process is correct. Did it a few years back.

Yup -- I see cars listed on different forums with a picture of one key and it's almost like a let the buyer beware thing . It's a grand folks . Mine was supposed to have 2 keys when I got it.

One of the local dealers wants $1146 for the key and another $250 for programming. Has the cost inflated that much in the past year?

I had the same situation. I bought my car from an independent dealer and the dealer
took care of getting a key and the key code.
Proof of purchase with Vin# and ID.
The factory will issue the original key code after they have this info.
The whole process took me a week.
I don't live in a city with a dealer so I just took the key with the key code to a locksmith that has a Lonsdor programmer.
The programming cost me $350 and took 15 minutes.

Yup. If titled in more than one name then need ID for each owner or no joy.

FYI, I bought my car with 2 keys, but the selling independent dealer only provided 1 key when I picked it up. They said the previous owner was supposed to drop off the key and code card, but they couldn't find it. They honored the PA and ordered me a key/card and I took delivery of the car. The issue was that I was in MN and I bought the car in TX. They knew about the issues with proof of ownership, no key code card, etc. They were able to procure a key and key code card from FNA with the documentation they had and mail them to me (no charge). I then had to get the new key programmed. Since I'm in MN, there is no Ferrari Dealer. I was concerned I'd have to ship car to Chicago, but called my local Maserati and they said they thought they could program with their Leonardo tool, so I let them try. They were successful ($250ish) and now I have two keys and a key code card. So there are other options than Ferrari for programming keys. I have the Launch tool, but didn't want to try to program for fear it would disable the good key in some way.
