Interesting...never noticed that. I assumed they were the same, save for the electrical plug and I believe that is what the tech said at SPAL. I had the 2049s, and had to splice on the factory plug...which wasn't a big deal, other than the time waste. They worked perfectly fine. I would get the 2050 just to save time, and make the install go faster. I have done a couple friends cars (and planning to do another friends this summer) and used 2050s in each case. Never noticed the rotation difference.

Have you looked through the entire catalog? Perhaps they make an exactly variant that rotates in the same direction? (though I doubt it really matters) https://webstore.spalusa.com/content/files/content/PDF/SBL_SPAL.pdf

Looked at all 18 of the 16" fans, and it's the only one marked CCW. I'll call Roselli's in San Jose today (best Ferrari guy in the area) & ask him.

    Re opening an old thread

I think I have a weak fan. Car been stored too long due to covid.

I can’t find the references on the Spal website. It looks like they changed the way they reference Items. I am based in Europe and would like to know which one is correct

    30102050 is VA18-AP71/LL-59A
This is the slightly lower output fan with sealed bearings and the appropriate electrical connector for a "plug and play" installation.

I am seeing this listed as the -49, not the -50. I did a huge search for the -50 last year and the only way to buy it (at least then) was to have a Spal authorized dealer special order it from the factory, for like $185/each. I went with the -49 at much lower price. Haven't installed yet. Still would like to find the -50.

Good to know, I was not aware of that. They are exactly the same except for the electrical plug, so just a little splicing in order with the 30102049.

I have not inquired in years, but this guy would special order the 30102050 for anyone that wanted them. But agree for $50+ savings, I would happily do the splicing.

BTW, years ago The Fan Man priced the 2049 and 2050 exactly the same. He just didn't stock the 2050 as he said he rarely had requests for them. His cost was the same for both.

I have found one through an Italian ebay seller which is relatively close as I am in the south of France.

Price was competitive. About 100 eur with shipping. Will need to re-use the plug from the old one but that’s fine

This is a super helpful thread; thx f355spider!

Just so I'm clear, the spal 30102050 fan is the exact same as the 20102049, except that it has the 355 factory connector and spins counter clockwise? I'm assuming that the blades are the opposite direction compared to 2049, so that the airflow is the same direction despite the opposite rotation direction? Can anyone confirm?

No idea about rotation, nor why it would matter ( they are all "puller" fans). When I discussed with the Spal USA rep years ago, he said the 30102049 and the 30102050 were identical save for the plug. If anyone has further questions, all you need to do is contact SPAL USA and add the information to this thread.

That was my question - to make sure it was a "puller" fan despite spinning CCW. Purchased the 2050 fans and had them installed last week. They seem to be working really well... Thx for all the info and research on this! All is well here, hope you are well and got in a lot of driving in this last summer!
