So I got a bit curious as to why there were different varieties of Rosso Corsa, and stumbled across this site that has a whole slew of different paint examples:

    There are some amazing blues...

    greens...

    and even browns!

I've always lamented the lack of color these days in the automotive industry, but it's even worse when you're talking about really nice looking cars.

I just ordered my first new Ferrari a couple of weeks ago and felt exactly the opposite. That is to say, as awesome as some of the other colors are, it would be a crime not to go with Rosso Corsa. :)

In terms of maximizing value, having the most liquid market for the car, and minimizing head scratching (“Why wouldn’t you get a red one?”), your choice makes total sense. Especially because if you say Ferrari, everyone immediately pictures a red one.

If we were talking about 1980s Porsches, I would also point out that you either get Guards Red, or wish you had Guards Reds.

At the end of the day, I think it’s also somewhat model dependent. Some cars demand red, but I’m not sure the four seat GT cars (excluding California/Portofino) imply red as the first choice.

There is no red sports car I would buy, new or vintage (minus a few MULTI million dollar options, F40 etc).

I’ve had 3 FCars. 2 have been red. Never again. The historic and “off” colors, especially blues, are amazing.

I tend to buy red sports cars and dark blue sedans, coupes, and SUVs. My F430 was Rosso Corsa and my new 812 will be, too. I admit to being momentarily tempted by TDF and Blue Elettrico, but red won out.

    Especially on a GT Ferrari.
The mid engine V8s, red all the way. IMO.

This is why I owned Rosso Corsa first and now have TDF Blue. The red is amazing and everyone should have the red Ferrari once. But the blue is also amazing.

It is ironic. Most car manufacturers have simply boring colors selections. People get really excited about a new shade of Mercedes silver! Ferrari has perhaps the most diverse color palette and people cannot help themselves and go with Rosso Corsa. I know. I did. ;)

Agreed. Getting a Ferrari in any color other than Rosso Corsa is a bit like going to a steakhouse and ordering chicken.

I see it going to the steakhouse and instead of getting the filet...

    You order a Bavette.

Only first time buyers get to pick the color (98% correct).

I think if it's your first Ferrari Red is the way to go (at least that's what I did).....after that something different....for me it is and will most likely always be GS....

I agree. Seems like a crime to work your way into a position to purchase a Ferrari, only to get it in the same paint as nearly everyone else. Be original, it'll make it more special.

Weren't something like 70 percent of LaF's ordered in some form of Rosso?

I have had 11 Ferrari’s .....and every ONE was RED.

My Pista that’s coming? RED ...never any consideration of another color.

What color is every F1 car fromFerrari? That’s the only historical color I care about.

After shopping for a while for my first Ferrari, I started looking for anything other than red...it would be like how every other Mercedes is black or silver, and seeing one in any other color is just so refreshing...Mars Red or Alubeam SLS for example

Not everyone gets to own a Ferrari.
Not every Ferrari owner chooses red (or yellow or black).
It's a brave and confident owner who chooses green.

It ain’t called resale blue, resale greenish, or resale silver-gray.

It’s called resale red for a very good reason.

True. Sometimes it is easier to buy what others like in a given market. Our current house is a lot more “conventional” looking than I would prefer — I do like contemporary houses, but given how often we move, I figure we aren’t staying here forever so it made sense to buy what sells.

In the 70's, people found brown and (avocado) green appliances to be rather attractive. I believe history as spoken, and the sentiment often applies to cars as well. ;)
