Well, I made it to the end of Adrain Newey's "autobiography", but it became hard work. Early on, I was surprised by the wild inaccuracies in regard to any of the cars Adrian was involved in where I have a level of direct experience, which made me cautious about accepting claims made about later cars. Then the second half of the book descends into a fawning celebrity lifestyle account - such as you'd read in Vanity Fair. Names are dropped on every other page. I worked out that the book was ghost written and, sure enough, when you get to the acknowledgements, you discover that the writer was Andrew Holmes. Newey (or maybe Andrew) states, "prior to meeting me he knew nothing of motor racing".

It's a real shame. Newey is responsible for more than half the innovations that became standard across all open wheel cars and his legacy deserves more than this book.

 

I found a lot of it hard work but the part about him needing a driver to get to work and back was "Einstienian" for the revelation

I would really like to read Byrne's biography

It's over for Ferrari!

I am actually starting to get a little bit excited to see the Mercedes 1-2 battle up front this season.

 

Yeah, the same as what happened to Hammy when he started to mysteriously breakdown eventually losing the WDC to Nico in 2016.

I hope Mercedes lets Bottas win a WDC, why not eh?
