So when Elton John's 1974 365 GT/4 BB arrived; a week later he told his friend Noel Edmonds of BBC Radio 1 about his new Ferrari. He said "you know about these things, I will send it around and you can drive the car". That was how Noel Edmonds got to drive Elton John's new Boxer for a week in 1974.
I was told the Boxer was a maroon - dark red color when new. No mention of that in the lot description.
Maybe Marcel will comment on the factory delivery paint color...

Chassis number 17741. It was/is a maroon colour, Rosso Bordeaux 20.R.351 with Beige VM 3234 Leather interior from Tom Hartley Junior's site from when he sold it. See here: http://www.tomhartleyjnr.com/used/previously-sold-cars/1974/classic/ferrari/1974-classic-ferrari-moira-swadlincote-for-sale-17741

It does look a brighter red than it is in some of the recent pics but you can see the colour in the video I posted above.

Still one of the most beautiful mid-engine exotics of all time. Had a poster of a yellow over black one when I was a teen.

I tried to buy this car in late 1977 or early 1978. It was advertised in Motor Sport magazine with 6000 miles by its then owner, an Alan Eisner (spelling) who lived in Lapworth, UK. Although he had advertised it along with a freshly restored Daytona, he would not sell it.

Why would you need to restore a 5-year old car? Did Daytonas really fall apart that quickly back in the day?

The Daytona had been totally nut and bolt rebuilt. It was green IIRC.

Hmm, but it still seems strange that a 5 year old car would even need any sort of restoration. I mean you don't see too many 458s being restored now, although you might in 20 or 30 years time. Surely there must be more to the story, although I appreciate it may not be known.

Ferraris from that era did suffer from rust issues.
