    Well...

The company is probably not fully committed, that's true. Even if there is a constant support for Formula One in the ranks; but I'm not sure that there is the same degree of support from the members of the board...
Hülkenberg said a few days ago that the engine has indeed progressed. My own opinion is that, as the McLaren were rather convincing during the first two races, so the engine has made "some steps" ahead indeed.
Unfortunately, Hülkenberg said that the chassis has "similar problems" than last year...
    Not very satisfying indeed.

The Renault board doesn't allocate enough funds to finance a team Worthy of a major motor manufacturer, it seems.
Renault F1 shouldn't be battling mid-field against the like of Haas or Point Racing, but at the front, with Ferrari Mercedes and RB-Honda.

Well, you know as well as I do that it is difficult to know what's been said during a board. I always thought that the decision to return as a "full constructor", that is building engine and chassis, was too tall an order when Goshn said that "we have to succeed at reasonable cost". Was he convinced himself? (That would be funny considering all the royal, even imperial expenses at his own benefit that are brought to light these days...talk about "reasonable expenses"...) Was he limited in his ambition for Formula One by the board? He was more controversial within the company board these last years, among other reasons due to his salary package, and some votes were getting difficult to obtain. Our side of the English channel, almost no-one has shed any tear about what has been happening to him lately...no compassion whatsoever, even if many suspect that the Japanese has somewhat trpped, or ambushed him. But even taking that into account, no compassion.
It remains to be seen what the new CEO will be doing with the F1 project...

    I fully agree.

Even before the Goshn era, Renault has entered and left F1 several times. It seems there is never a long term strategy.

They certainly do not seem to be able to decide exactly what path to follow as far motorsport is concerned. Even regarding their own history, it took them ages to decide to do "Something" with the "Alpine" name, a brand they have shelved for an awfully long time. Although it has to be said that once they decided to revive it at last, they gave us a proper sportscar...light is right!

Changing of the guard at Renault Sport in the UK & France. I guess this is the fallout from Goshn OR they realized a change was needed.

The first (symbolic*) brick has been laid for our new building in Viry! Jérôme, Cyril and Alain were present of course, along with Messrs. Diguet, Vilain, Réda, Segogne and Bertone. *No, we're not making it out of Lego. Though that would be pretty cool.

The building is an extension to our current engine factory and should be ready by mid-2020, expanding our facilities by a further 4000 m2. Enstone has been thoroughly regenerated since 2016, now it’s Viry’s turn.

It would seem Renault needed RedBull more than RedBull needed Renault.

Renault, Abiteboul admits: "After the departure of Red Bull we cannot show the progress of the V6"
    .
    .
    .
    .

To conclude, the Renault Sport boss added: "By losing the supply to Red Bull we have lost the opportunity to demonstrate the progress made by the engine. We knew it, so we must try to show it with our team".

Agnelli family aka Elkann is the chairman of both companies (FCA/Ferrari) and will be the chairman of the new merged company.

Since the merger is about cost cutting, Ferrari powered Renos could happen in the near future :) or maybe Reno powered Ferraris :p

Maybe Renault will eat some humble pie and ask Ferrari F1 "How do these hybrid PU's work??"

Elkann must "let em draw from the same well....certainly Ferrari can present a bill for such services....after all, we are not communists." :D

Two independent companies can have the same chairman.

Ferrari was de-merged from FCA to protect it.

I can't see the interest for Ferrari of lending its engines to Renault; that would seriously dilute the prestige of the brand, IMO.

Just on Automotive News podcast this morning that the head of PSA said that the FCA / Renault merger is opportunistic. Renault's balance sheet shows positive numbers for its in house finance company and the Nissan shares on their books. He said that without those two companies reporting, Renault would have zero positive numbers. With this, it makes one wonder how they can support an F1 team.

Hummm, maybe there is more money to be made in banking and finance by Renault Credit International, than in car manufacturing by Renault SA ?
Renault owns 43% of Nissan, and that company seems to be doing well.
I never understood how Nissan was heading for bankrupcy a few years ago, and that Renault managed to save it.
As for F1, Renault has always been very parsimonious in spending in that area compared to the other car manufacturers.
