All this talk about copying is really ironic. When it comes to Ferrari automobiles that have been restored they are sometimes not even a 'copy' of how the original looked. Not directly related to this picture but period pictures do illustrate how the original design has been butchered on the premise of 'restoring' a historic design. The nose shape seems to be an especially troublesome part of an authentic design restoration.
    Right Kare?;)

There was some comment about a scoop on BB but that was certainly a consideration previously as these pictures indicate. Interesting that Ferrari would hang onto a 4 year old Italia for development purposes...

The test plate for this Ferrari is MM P M AT 03. The Monza SP1 tested was wearing MM p M AT 04 and also MM p M AT 10 on another occasion. Which would indicate senior test staff as each driver has his own factory 'plate' to use.

Maybe a mule for the rear mid engine hybrid V12 ?
    Aka testarossa revival ( icona ? F167 ? F176 ? )

Please don't forget this below when you will see the new V8 Hybrid car that will outperform any existing car (at least) in the 0-62 Mph drag time:

The following (part of a ) speech is Copyright protected and happened one year ago, on May 2018:

AM is me, DB is Dario Benuzzi:

    ------------------

AM: “Today you still continue to test the new Ferrari prototypes: what can you tell me about tomorrow's models which you've certainly already tested?”

DB: “Unfortunately it seems likely that in the future the path we have previously followed, that is to increase the power and to reduce the weight, is no longer possible. We are moving towards cars that will certainly be even more powerful than the current ones, but also heavier: this is due to the complexity of the hybrid systems and their batteries. I'm a little sorry about this, but the future "obligates" this for reason of emissions and associated issues . In any case it takes a little humility to recognize that the best models are always those still to be introduced: with the 458 we seemed to have reached the culmination of possibilities, then along came the 488 which was another great step forward and now the 488 Pista making another one! We were a bit skeptical before starting the tests with the LaFerrari hybrid, but instead it turned out to be much better than the Enzo in every aspect. Moreover, even the current Formula 1 are hybrids, and road Ferrari have always used technologies and solutions borrowed from Formula 1, just as happened in its time with the advent of the turbo."
    ...

Thanks for sharing, very interesting. Gives some insight so the real collector cars might well be the generation of "light weight" cars.

Thank you Alberto for sharing some of your conversation with Dario Benuzzi. Mr Benuzzi certainly has a great perspective regarding the progress of Ferrari road cars over the decades. Imagine driving a 308 and the LaFerrari!

Ok, now I understand what you meant and I agree with you. That's also the reason why I think different powertrains (vs the ones offered on regular production models) are extremely unlikely.

Biker spots the BB and tries to keep up. Not much to see honestly, but the acceleration when it pulls away seems crazy.

Roads among the hill around Maranello: Guiglia and Monteorsello, coming from Marano sul Panaro. Very nice places. Very skilful local bike driver that put his life in danger trying to follow the Ferrari prototype on those roads: when he lost the Ferrari (that can turn much fatster than a bike) he was clever to cut the road to meet it again.

And no respect for any speed limit by both drivers…

    ciao

True. Was that a 30 km/h limit I saw at one point? They must have been close to 100 judging from speedo on the bike.

    Thanks.

So quite aggressive pointy nose but with (what looks like) the "boxes" on the ends like F8.

Probably needed for crash structure but hope they're better executed than on the F8.

Overall I like the F8 but those hard corners on the front drive me crazy.

"Although when It drove past me it was doing under 25kph is sounded load and deep. At low speed better than a Pista" (posted by @F12london)

Personally I think it will sound better than a 488 but there won't be a day/night difference.

The more I look at this, the more I think we are getting an electrified Pista next week with the same engine and a different body.
