I have a 2006 F430 Spider. Driving on the freeway today by Northgate Mall and a flying golf size rock hit my windshield and cracked it. Can anyone recommend a local auto glass shop? Thanks in advance. Dan
Talk to Greg or Dustin. Tell them Kie sent you. It will be as good as factory. http://eastlakeautoglass.net/
You might call the Ferrari dealer and ask them who they use. Or maybe talk to John at Metropolitan Detail.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I'm here in Hawaii. Will visit Eastside Autoglass when I get home on Tuesday. Dan Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I read all their online reviews and they are all 5 star / highly recommended so I called them today as Im ready to hire them to replace my windshield. Called them today and they said they dont do Ferrari's.................. I know I can just take it to Ferrari of Seattle but I know they just contract it out to another local glass shop and I prefer to do business directly and support local family owned business owners too. Anyone else have any recommendations besides the dealer? Thanks in advance. Dan
I asked Mark Israel (owner of Eurotech Bodywerkes in Kirkland) who painted my 930 a couple years back. He said these guys did the glass on my car and Ferrari work is something they do regularly. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Euro-Glass/162223233796068 Bruce or Jeff are the names he gave me.
How much is OEM windshield on the 430? Is there any good aftermarket replacement? A friend with a 612 who had his windshield replaced recently (cost was almost 5k for an OEM windshield, part and labor).
Here's what I learned so far: 360 and F430 Spider uses the same glass. P/N:65782800. Eurospares UK: $1,940.00. Scuderia Car Parts USA: 2,185.00. Algar Ferrari: 4,139.00 The above doesn't include shipping charges. I saw some aftermarket generic glass in eBay & Google search for about $1K. Labor is 2 hours typical. Again, I'm fully covered by my insurance. Just educating myself on costs. And I prefer to support local family owned glass shops versus dealers who are multi millionaires already. And I know most dealers don't actually do windshield replacements themselves. They sub contract it out. Dan Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
FWIW, Ferrari of Seattle installs the glass themselves, not sub-contracted. You can see them doing it in the shop.
Yes you are correct. They told me they now do glass replacement in-house and that they have 3 factory certified glass technicians. Thanks for chiming in. Dan Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
By the way, Ferrari of Seattle quoted me $9,100.00 to replace windshield on my F430 Spider. $4,600.00 for the glass, $3,600.00 for labor. Yikes! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
$3600 for no more than 3 hrs work! I'm working with a local shop that does all manner of exotics...need to find a source for the glass. Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk
I know..........I still cant fathom how they can charge that much for windshield replacement labor......... My post number 16 has source for OE Glass: Here's what I learned so far: 360 and F430 Spider uses the same glass. P/N:65782800. Eurospares UK: $1,940.00. Scuderia Car Parts USA: 2,185.00. Algar Ferrari: 4,139.00
While $3600 is excessive it is far more then 3 hours worth of work. Unless you want to risk the "A" pillar trims getting cut or damage quite a bit of the interior and cowl should be removed, hood requires removal Most wont do it and take the chance. If you have ever tried to get leather pieces from Ferrari you would not take that chance. I would not take the risk and liability of a windshield on that car for less than $2500. If others want to work for free and expose themselves to that liability have at it. Are they comfortable and insured at a level to deal with a paint scratch, damaged interior, water leak that damages electronics and the expense that comes with the repairs and diminished value in the case of paint work? I've done a lot of these and it is a full days worth of work to properly do glass in a 430.
Thank you for chiming in and sharing your thoughts and professional input. Sincerely appreciated. Dan Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
