I think "SP" is reserved for Special Project cars

If it's a regular production car, why call it SP90? Isn't that special project?

maybe SP > Sport Prototipo (like 330 P3/4... or similar)

 

maybe a temporary name... if you notice in the video of the last special project the car is called with a name and the final product has another one..

P90 is my favourite name as P is for the comeback of the rear engine (P stands for Posteriore) and 90 is the year from the Scuderia Ferrari foundation. This car opens to a new future (hybrid…) so it would be nice to show that it happened after 90 years from the foundation,

But I cannot explain the "S" of the reported SP90 name. Maybe "Speciale Posteriore"? The other things l33trz told are 100% proven (through a friend that just some hours ago confirmed what l33trz wrote about the front ligths), so no doubt he saw that name on the car: we just have to learn if that was the definitve name or just an attempt/decoy

No way they call it P90. That is already a Tesla

 

Could be the F173 "nickname" and it makes sense for the factory insiders .
IE : The special project road car to celebrate 90 years of scuderia

I still like Le Mans for a name but now it seems Ferrari has gone simple with F12 and followed with F8. Maybe next time little brother will be F6.

Maybe it is a plate name for all the various Ferrari projects this year that represents 90 Years for the Scuderia. So anything they want to tie together in this year is SF90 ? Sort of a special anniversary. SP and SF could look similar from a distance.
Before everything was 70 years from 1947 but now they go back further two years later for a bigger number '90' now!

The Scuderia Ferrari (racing team) is 90 years old. Enzo’s team originally ran Alfa Romeos. Ferrari as an automobile manufacturer turned 70 in 2017. They won’t likely call a road car after the 90th anniversary of the racing team.

and we already have SP1 and SP2 introduced in the Monza series.

 

So we know the name will be different from SP90. But totally different? or something matches?
