    Yes, that should be one option. This is another i have been thinking of is this Alpine 4.1 AMP with built in subwoofer and bluetooth dongle.
    Need to measure if if fits behind the plate, but it would solve several problems in one package.
    Can be connected to ordinary speaker outputs also, so no problem with old head unit. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    One thing I'd be concerned about, behind the kick plate: condensation dripping from the evaporator. My own car has previously had an issue there, so make sure you don't have electricals getting new a potential wet source.
