    No GT for the F8!

Ferrari will go on with the 488, maybe an Evo.

That's what i was thinking, it won't last long enough to justify a GT championship model

Maybe they will use the future BB as GTE / GT3 car.

And perhaps Ferrari will enter a Hypercar for the new series that will replace LMP1..that would be great.

The future F40 Icona must be the car for this Hypercar Le Mans series.

The 488 GT3 is already running with an EVO kit on the 2018 and later Homologation with a significant amount of aero added and exhaust modifications.
The potential is there to rebody the car and call it an F8 but we are already prepping for the 2021 F8 Gt3

Why no F8GT then? Will they make a SF90 GT?

if you homologate a GT Version, GTE or GT3 you homologate the aero, chassis and engine, basically. The F8 is a 488 with different bumpers... it is the same chassis and the same engine (with some modifications...) but if you want a F8 GT3/GTE you would basically homologate the same car twice.

also it doesnt matter if the street car has 500 or 1000 hp, the BoP kicks you there where the BoP wants to have you. same with the weight. if you homologate a GT Car, you are allowed to update your Aero and some Specifications every two years. the 488 GT Versions were launched in 2016 and got the first EVO Updates for the 2018 Season. We expect to have next year a major update. there is ZERO developmend ongoing or even started on the F8. However, you could probably rename the Car or Call it 488 GT3/GTE EVO2. The advantage of the current GT Plattform is that you can convert your GT3 into a GTE and back. Smart choice but thats one of the reasons the 488 GT3 costs almost twice as other GT3 Cars.

the big Issue at the Moment in terms of all next generation GT3 and GTE Plattforms is how you BoP those cars, as most of the Manufacturer will have Hybrid Models and there is no regulation in place for such GT Race Versions. Thats a challenge for all manufacturers.

I also know that there is no development even discussed about a SF90 GT Version. there is simply no regulation in place for this car. It weights 1800 kg, and it might be fast on one lap but I honestly doubt the power will last a second lap and the tires more than 5.... just remember daytona / finali mondiali and how often the FXXK had to change the tires.... ;)

and I dont want to know the running costs of a hybrid powered GT Race Version....

another question will be how finally the ACO/FIA will come to an agreement about the future LMP/Hypercar/GTE+ Regulations, we should get to know it in about two weeks from now...... I dont think the SF90 will become the base model for this new WEC/Le Mans Racer, I expect that Ferrari will rather create a super limited Icon Le Mans Car as Basic. This could be thrilling...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and knowledge of the situation.

I agree that the SF90 was not designed or intended to go racing as noted in some of my other posts.

All i know is that Ferrari will launch the 488Challenge Evo at October of this year. You can purchase the upgrade kit or the car new.

So far there is indeed zero talk about a new Challenge/race car based on the F8 or any other model.

All GT3 cars are going with the updated kit or EVO for 2020?

I haven't got 100% proof yet of all the details but for sure I know more in after Le Mans. There are several updates/development constantly ongoing. By Sporting Regulation Ferrari/Michelotto is allowed to upgrade the Aero every two years. So first update we got for 2018, theoretically 2020 could be EVO2 (or however it will be called...)

The 458 GT3 had several updates during his life as well as the 458 GTE

True but also Ferrari could upgrade the Challenge and call it F8 .... the Challenge is totally independed from the GT3/GTE Plattform and regulation.

The F8 GT could be in the new SRO GT2 category with high power and less downforce. Audi launches the R8 LMS GT2 at Goodwood and Porsche already has the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. The F8GT must be here!!

Maybe they could get a dispensation to change the head lamps and tail lights while keeping everything else the same, and call it F8 just for marketing reasons.
