My guess is that it is some sort of negotiation tactic. I will believe it when I see it.

Red Bull has been doing it for years. More marketing really. If it didn't make financial sense they wouldn't do it

I can't imagine Hulk is very happy where he is right now. Ricciardo gets paid 10 times as much and was essentially hired by renault to **** Red Bull. A move to a much faster car and a modest salary increase? And he can finally start going for that podium and illusive win...

Interesting, as Coulthard has himself admitted that he was instrumental in triggering that pile up.

What did the stewards concluded at the time ?

    I am happy with that.

And some of their videos are simply awesome... like driving the RB in the desert or on snow. It fits their image with all these extreme sports they are sponsoring.

Same here! Gasly just doesn't have the speed and a tight battle with Ferrari, a quicker driver is essential.

+1 Really enjoy all that they do for F1.

My sense is that the approach to Hulk is an attempt by Marko to light a fire under Gasly. If Albon's form continues I could see Gasly and Alex swapping seats.

I don't know about "scared", but generally you don't hand over your best weapons to your enemy.

in strict business terms, you don't see many companies handing over the patents that made them profitable to a rival, do you?

I can't even understand how Lauda could have contemplated such an arrangement; maybe him, Marko and Mateschitz being Austrian and all that ...

I think Lauda wants to see real racing, and zero competition for Mercedes hardly makes it's championships rewarding.

Developing a functional F1 engine costs over a billion (these complicated engines, anyways). Mercedes still spends €250 MILLION a year on it's F1 engines alone! It's not sustainable nor should anyone expect a non-manufacturer team to spend that amount of money on developing engines, let alone the rest of the car.

Quite simply put we have a 3 tier Formula. Formula Mercedes, Formula Ferrari/Red Bull and Formula "lets try and make it to the end of the year and call it a success''.

Ferrari should have given Red Bull engines since 2016, I'm sure Ricciardo or Verstapen would have won at least 1 championship to Hamilton.
It is always better to see a Red Bull win with your engine than a Mercedes. You just should have asked him to paint a big Ferrari shield on the car.

Last year Red Bull would've walked with it. And that, changes the course of everything. Mercedes could well have been behind in development for this years car/engine because of that, leading to a closer battle this year between everyone.

I am quite happy when the best team wins, personally.
    That's what it's all about.
I bet if we had 6 years of Ferrari domination, there would not be a murmur of protest from the tifosi.
Oh wait, we had that already !!!
It's getting quite hypocritical, to me.

I don't have a problem with the best team winning as such, but when the rules are manipulated to their favour, I do.
