Matt Damon as Carrol ruins it for me.

Agreed Matt is far from the best actor to emulate Carol.

Really phony accent by both Bale and Damon.

The trailer makes it sound like they built the cars in 90 days. Actually that's about how long Shelby had to modify the cars he got when he took over the program which was going for years. So, I hope they stay accurate and not "Hollywood" up history.

Also Ken Miles died in the next prototype Ford GT just a few months later. So, the entire story doesn't have such a happy ending.

I'm sure Hollywood will have it's way with the specifics, and Matt Damon as Shelby seems...sub-optimal...but otherwise I'm looking forward to it, looks like a fun ride.

Looks good. Will take it for what it is Hollywood historical fiction. Doesn't look like it's trying to be a documentary. Hopefully as good as "Rush." Love Christian Bale.

I don't understand why Matt Damon was casted as Caroll Shelby, that makes no sense to me. Did someone at the studio lose a bet? Damon looks nothing like Shelby, the worst of it he'll butcher the dialog with a fake Texas accent.

Looks like a fun movie, but it's no documentary..the concept may be based on real events, but the portrayal is far from reality..should still be fun tho..

They probably wanted a big name actor(s) to help sell tickets as most people are not into cars let alone vintage car racing. Most movie goers will have no idea what Carroll Shelby looked like back then unless the film ends like Rush with real images of the drivers and personnel portrayed.

Saw it tonight. It was really good, and both Matt and Christian did very good jobs.

Historically it was pretty accurate, racing and car scenes were very good. Alot of credit to Hollywood for making an excellent car movie that I think "regular" (non-car) people will enjoy. Definitely worth going to see.

Big scene filmed at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, saw the changes during production. Will see the movie Saturday the 16th with a group we assembled to rent an auditorium. Looking forward to it, will post pics afterwards.

I know how this ends. A car company that builds more cars in a day than the losing company makes in a year....wins. What a surprise...not.

Sorry but this entire movie, on the surface, just looks like a 2 hour Ford commercial.

Titled: "Le Mans '66" here in the UK.

As a die hard Tifosi, it seems a bit too "pro-Ford / anti-Ferrari" for my liking, so I think I'll give it a miss.

(I'll go and see the sequel though: "Daytona '67" ;):D)

I'm planning on seeing the movie with Ferrari Club friends next weekend - I know the story, but it will be interesting to see the Hollywood take on it.

Was lucky enough to come of age in Florida during the sixties and saw some of the Ferrari-Cobra-Ford GT wars developing at Daytona and Sebring, beginning with the 250 GTO's first race at Sebring in 1962, and ending with Ford domination in 1966. A golden age of motor racing, but I didn't realize it at the time. I realize that books are not that popular today, but there are a couple that are very relevant to this topic. The Ford GT story is well told in Preston Lerner's "Ford GT", illustrated by Shelby American's official photographer Dave Frriedman. A must read for the true story. The Ferrari side is covered, not as a single subject but well enough by "Forghieri on Ferrari." These two books alone, have given me hours of reading pleasure. Then I go out and drive my F430 - and all is good.

My wife has read "Go Like Hell" twice, another very entertaining read on the subject.
