Saw a very tidy early 928S today belonging to a well known Qld businessman and part owner of a prominent NBL team. Man normally drives a new Bentley. 928's are on the up..
How about this one.....what could possibly go wrong. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/928-Porsche-1980-model/123802099948?hash=item1cd32e20ec:g:58sAAOSwAxpc~j36
A bunch of stuff arrived yesterday for the OHOS BMW. Not sure what I’m supposed to do with the man filter, but anyway. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pulled all the calipers, brake lines and rotors off today. The pads had an interesting crumbling look about them Partly disassembled the master cylinder but I ran out of puff tonight. Brake lines as you can see are well past their use by date. The rear brake shields came off pretty easily so I’ll get those cleaned and made pretty. The front ones unfortunately require removing the hub. They look very ugly so it will bother me leaving them in that state. Oh well, the hubs will come off now and I may as well renew the front wheel bearings. Another first for me but I’m enjoying the challenge of learning how to do it. The FedEx guy and I are on a first name basis now, he dropped off new lines, caliper kit and a new master cylinder yesterday. New rotors, brake pads and now wheel bearings are on the way Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pads still look like they have 100% left on them, but are obviously very old. Enjoy the work man and keep sharing pics please.
You may need a puller to remove the hubs and the inner bearing. Outer bearing comes out of the hub by warming it up a bit with a gas torch and using a big socket as a drift. Happy to give you to a hand with this. Worst case, the upright will have to come off and be put in a press. Gives you the opportunity to bead blast it and make it pretty 928's have a complicated rear suspension linkage with lots of rubber bushes. I expect they'll be quite perished and the car's handling will be all over the shop. You should really replace every rubber bush in the car. An outfit called Superpro sell poly bush kits for front and rear.
Thanks. I’ll let you know The suspension stuff is beyond me. Too hard I think with just floor jacks. I’ll get a pro to fix all that My biggest issue at the moment is getting off one of the brake lines. Nut on the steel end of the line is stuck hard and rounded out. I’ve given up for today
