What are your thoughts on getting it wrapped?
Did you drive it home from Houston?
I think it is fair to say you may have the first RP in the Houston area.
    Very unique custom choices.
Will you limit it to weekend only driving?
Enjoy it, she is a beauty!

I think mine is the first. Metallic colors are very hard to match when repairing chips; therefore, I had the full car covered with PPF. You can barely tell and there are no seems. Done by Ferrari of Houston. I added an Automods skid plate to the front to reduce the chance of damage from parking stops and steep drives. I have a front camera to help with parking in tight spaces. I am planning to use it daily but haven't gotten there yet. I had the car delivered as I was unable to drive it home. It would have been fun, particularly the ocean side drive from Refugio to Corpus. Maybe next time.

    Very beautiful !
Do you have the standard color wheels or the chrome plated?
I want to avoid the ones that look darker but I am not sure which is which.

Mine has the standard wheels that look perfect with this color.

It isn’t. There are some new technologies in the paint (see articles on the web) but it isn’t three layer. I have it on my car and love it!

Unfortunately that information was not correct...

I had to wait 1 more month to get the price for some of the new options (ADAS etc) and in the meantime everything changed...
They first told me that the Rosso Portofino is a 10 month and today they said it is now 12 month wait !
Not only that, but the price has more than doubled! Not 9K anymore. It is 19K now! (euros)

I convinced myself that I like the Rosso Corsa more.
I did a side by side comparison in the configurator and decided so.
12 months (and who knows if that would change again) was way too much.
Not to mention that for the same price I got the ADAS and ventilated seats.
Heck, I even threw the heated neck option in...

So I guess for you guys that already got your Rosso Portofino, your car value just went way way higher!
For the rest of the guys waiting or contemplating that, I guess it has become much more difficult now.
As I said, I convinced myself that I like the Rosso Corsa more. It is an once in a lifetime thing for me, so I guess with the classic Ferrari red I cannot go wrong.
I signed the final configuration today and paid the second advance, so they say it should be ~4 months (not counting August, so ~5months really).
Happy times and enjoy driving your cars to everyone.

After reading your above posting, I am completely flabbergasted! How could Ferrari in good conscience order
such a huge price increase on the RP? There is a fine line between being profitable and being greedy. However,
in this case the line is not so fine. Such pricing policy, gives me pause about a future purchase of a Portofino.
I would like to hear the thoughts of all Fcar owners and or prospective owners.

    I agree it’s crazy.
I have not heard of this.
I guess prices can change from year to year.
How about price changes after the car has been ordered.
They say you price is not confirmed until it arrives.
I configured my car based on the price at the time- that would be really crappy if there was such a change in price-

Has others seen such a difference from configuration to delivery

I would not call it greed because if you don't choose RP and instead you choose a basic color (like I did) Ferrari gets no extra money; basic colors are included in the basic price, you pay not a cent more. (And all other special or historic colors remain at the same price, 9K euros).

    My take is that this has maybe a dual reasoning;
I guess they increased the price to reflect the great difficulty and cost of producing that specific color, but maybe also to deter many customers from choosing RP and instead choose another color. I guess it proved to be a very difficult color to produce and they prefer to have as few customers choosing that as possible; less waiting time, less complaining, fewer threads on the internet discussing Ferrari's delays...

Out of interest, does anyone know if the price of the special colours differs by car? For example, is Rosso Fuoco more expensive on an 812 than a 488 or Portofino, for example?

Still nothing on my RP. Was suppose to come June 1 and I still got nothing. I have only seen one person in the states receive theres. Again I placed my order December 2018. This has been one of the worst experience I have ever had.

    Hi Steve
    I think they are coming-
I think there has been more than one delivery to the US. Mine is at stage 90.
When you ordered- when did they say you were going to get it?
I would not think they would say 6 months?

Sorry December 2017. The car was at first suppose to come September 2018, then December 2018, then February 2019 then May 2019. I was one of the first people to order the car in the states. I only think 1 has be delivered to the states so far. I will never order a new Ferrari again. It will be almost 2 years since I order the car once delivered.

Hi Steve, I agree the uncertainty and moving dates are pretty frustrating. I ordered mine in RP in Aug ‘17 and only received it two weeks ago. If it’s any consolation you really won’t regret it. The colour is amazing and the performance more than enough for me. I also think the noise (in Sport setting) is fantastic, especially on the upshift and downshift. Cheers Stu

Great to hear that you will be driving it. It's a great GT and it was meant for driving. Not sure why anybody would choose to use a Portofino for occasional drives only. It's a comfortable GT. Have fun and enjoy racking up the miles :)
