Yes I don’t have them and it’s impossible to find them out...

My 85 QV GTS just broke 70. 70k miles that is. Gonna open the bottle of champagne tonight that I bought for it awhile back. Who cares about resale. She drives so good and was made to be driven.

I'm going to backtrack on this and say that mine is upside down and yous is right. Talking with a friend about it this weekend he pointed out that the movement of the engine relative to the fuel distributor, which is bolted to the chassis, is longitudinal due to the fact that it's a transverse engine (same direction as the dogbone torque link) So the bellows should be aligned with that movement and therefore belongs on the throttle body.

Thinking about a repaint, though, up close there are some scuffs and such.. Can't decide on a color. Classic Fcar red, or a more modern BC/CC Fcar red, or black metallic, or something else?

Why not stay with the same color?
Red is too common
Is this the original color? If so, I would keep it

 

Save the $20K and leave it alone..it looks really nice the way it is.

 

If it's the original factory colour, keep it.
Personally I'd just change the wheels back to factory.

 

Since you asked - rather than spend the money on a repaint, hire a talented detailer to revive your original paint. Scuffs and such are repairable. Then, change the wheels back to stock. Go through the car and reverse whatever aftermarket mods that may have creeped in over the years, and take pride in being a respected steward of a great example of what Ferrari intended it to be.

 

The original color was Chiaro Oro, no I am not going back to that color. Forget putting the original wheels back on, they badly need refinishing and 14" quality sped rated tires are quite pricey and there are only a few tire options. If someone else wants to refinsish them and put 14" tires on, The original Chromadoras are in my shed and the next owner can do that. Those 17" wheels and speed rated tires cost 1/3 what refinishing the old wheels correctly and 14" tires would have cost

A guy that knows paint restoration/correction can do wonders, and FWIW I believe having a car ceramic coated is OK now for Concours....if that matters.

No that pic was taken six years ago.

 

How would the judges be able to confidently identify a ceramic coating on a car anyway I wonder?

 

Maybe he meant clear bra. Ceramic coating would never have been a concours issue anymore than waxing or polishing a car.

Not mine but nice non the less!!

 

Because ceramic coatings don’t look like wax. They look really really really shiny. Almost artificially so.
